Easy enough question. I just finished watching all of these in order this week and, well, I really really forgot how much I like them. So, what's your fav? My personal fav is Part 7: The New Blood. It has a great story (for a slasher film) and Jason, with bones sticking out and chain around neck just looks and is so badass in this one. My least favorite has to Part 5: A New Beginning, cause, well, it's not even Jason, it's just some ass copying him.
So, vote!

The original, though I really like "The New Blood" and 3 as well.
If you like these films (like I do), be sure to check out Mario Bava's "Bay of Blood." The Friday movies ripped off "Bay" big time.

The only one worth a damn was Freddy vs. Jason. The rest were garbage.

I think all of them are pure cheesy fun, except for Jason Goes to Hell, because Jason isn't even in that one is he? he just possesses people or something. And Jason X was more comedy than slasher.

As I mentioned in another thread it's easily Part 6 : Jason Lives. C.J. Graham played the Jason part very well in my opinion and trust me, it DOES matter who's in the costume. Playing that part is all about body language and he was very good at being menacing.
I liked the fact that there was a lot of humor in this one also. The kill scenes were some of the best I've ever seen in a slasher film too. A triple decapitation? It just doesn't get any better than that in a slasher flick. I also mentioned this in a previous thread but this film also gets bonus points for having Jason stick a knife in the ear of John Travolta's nephew (Cort was the character name) right after pushing his girlfriends face through an RV bathroom wall.
I have the Friday The 13th box set and I watched this one with the commentary. The director (Tom McLoughlin) knew he wasn't exactly making high art here and clearly was just having fun. That's what it's all about in this genre and I really respect that. I love all of the Friday films (Some more than others though) but this is my personal favorite. I actually remember seeing this in the theater when I was 10 so I suppose there is some sentimental value there.
My ranking of the Friday the 13th films:
1. Part 6: Jason Lives 2. Part 4: The Final Chapter 3. Part 7: The New Blood 4. Friday The 13th 5. Part 3 3D 6. Part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan 7. Part 2 8. Part 5: A New Beginning (I'm even ranking the fake Jason ahead of the next one because I hated Jason X.)
9. Jason X-I really can't even rank this because I've never made it all the way through. It is just too stupid for words and this is coming from a huge fan of the series.
I've never seen Jason Goes To Hell so I can't rank that one. I've heard it's nearly as bad as Jason X so I'm not exactly rushing to see it either. The next time I see it at Best Buy I'll drop the $10 down and hope for the best.

I liked the first one the best becuase it actually had a woman, Mrs. Vorhees, as the killer(sorry if you haven't seen the movie and I just ruined it for you). I also really liked Freddy Vs. Jason; really good fun and rather creative.

"Friday the 13th" was a good horror movie, and still is. The deaths were totally original and fun, when I saw it I was saying "Yeah! What an awesome way to die!" when Kevin Bacon was butchered. The ending was such a crap in your pants moment too. A little tame looking by todays standards though. The UK cut is uncut due to it being distributed by Warner and not Paramount. 10/10
"Friday the 13th II", while still a good movie, suffers from editing. Almost all the deaths are cut and it shows, even the ending was edited. Thank you Paramount. Plus we get Jason for the 1st time as the killer, with a potato sack on his head. 6/10
"Friday the 13th III" is one of my least favourites. When I saw the VHS of it, it was grainy and dirty looking which didn't help in the viewing. Plus almost all the 3D effects can be noticed due to wires and the like, and the death scenes look fake, esspecially the skull crunch death. Although Jason got his Hockey mask, I didn't like the way Richard Booker portraited him. Ending sucked so hard, they should of used the alternative one. 3.5/10
"Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter" is a favourite of mine. Tom Savini came back on board to do effects and kill Jason off. Story wise was good, bringing in Rob who seeked revenge for the death of his sister (from Part II, I believe), and the way Jason was killed was original and could make you cringe. More deaths were cut by the MPAA, but some got through. Ted White, although hated the part of playing Jason, did a great job. 8/10
"Friday the 13th V: The New Beginning" isn't as bad as I thought it would be. Yes, Jason isn't the killer in this one, but then he wasn't the killer in the original. Again, Paramount and the MPAA cut more deaths down. Tommy was creppy in this one, and the ending was going to set up what they originally planned for the 6th chapter. 6/10
"Friday the 13th VI: Jason Lives" isn't a big favourite of mine. I wasn't all into the comedy feel of the movie, but it was an okay movie. MPAA screwed us over once again, but thanks to director Tom McLoughlin, most of that cut footage was saved on a workprint he owns. 6.5/10
"Friday the 13th VII: The New Blood" is another favourite. Director John Carl Buechler did a wonderful job with the feel, his constant insistance of casting Kane Hodder as Jason, and being a SFX wizard, created the best effects and deaths in the whole series. Jason looked badass for the 1st time in the series. The deaths all suffered by the MPAA on this one and none of the original film footage of it is known to exist. Luckly Kane Hodder owns a work print contaning all these scenes, but due to over useage (He takes it Conventions all the time to show fans) it has started to ware out. Still one of the best in the whole series. 10/10
"Friday the 13th VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan" is such a dissapointment after chapter VII. Although Kane Hodder was back as Jason, you can tell they were dry on ideas by now. Again, the MPAA cut things left, right and center. Thankfully, this was the last entry done by Paramount. 2.5/10
"Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday" was the 1st entry made by New Line Cinema, and was a good effort to try something new. The nice nod to The Evil Dead and the Nightmare On Elm Street films was sweet. This one suffered from re-shooting of scenes, and the workprint was better then the released version. Kane Hodder was back once again and just gets better playing Jason as each movie comes. 7.5/10
"Jason X" is another dissapointment, although that's not a surpise. Horror franchises like this shouldn't venture into space. Deaths were sweet (and unedited when I saw this at theaters) and Kane again as Jason. I remember being so let down with this because it took so long to release it (Almost 2 years) and I wanted to see it so badly (It was the 1st Friday flick I would see at theaters). 3/10
"Freddy VS Jason" was something I'd been waiting almost 10 years for this after seeing "JGTH:TFF" (The movie was originally to be chapter VII, but New Line and Paramount couldn't agree on the project). Kane Hodder was replaced by Ken Kirzinger to play Jason, but Kirzinger did an outstanding job. The story was perfect, the action was sweet and the deaths were top rate. This film is a highlight to the entire series. 10/10
I cant really pick at favourite, but if I must, I guess it would be FVJ.

The only one worth a damn was Freddy vs. Jason. The rest were garbage. I actually wish I could have seen the original back in the day, when I didn't know who the real killer was. Now if I were to watch it, I might just think it's a lame slasher flick.

My favorite part about these films was not the kills, not the sex, but this guy called Ralph. For those who might not know him... Ralph was the crazy old guy in both 1 & 2 who just rode around on a bicycle screaming at people. I found a special place in my heart for that character.... and I was actually pissed when they killed him off in part 2.
But my favorite film was part 3, that had the most entertaining cast IMO. The acting in this film is so bad that I find it impossible to keep a straight face. It also breaks the goofy meter countless times, a great example is when the main girl wakes up in a boat... sees Jason charge out of the house and what does she do? She starts to row away! as if Jason will not be able to catch her. I don't know who's stupider... her or Jason...(who can't tell the difference between his mother's severed head, and a blonde girl wearing a sweatshirt!) We also learn that Jason is indestructible yet he's scared to get hit by a van, and limps when stabbed in the knee... huh? He also moans a lot in this movie.. so pretty much Jason is just a Frankenstein on steroids, rather than the killing machine he becomes in later films.
I also loved the subplot about Harold the grocery store owner and his bitter wife. That part of the film had to come from some failed sitcom script and the writer just put Jason in there to save it. Anyway Harold runs probably the most unsanitary grocery store in town... he drinks/eats samples of his own merchandise and still thinks it's okay to sell it to people! (he also lets his pet rabbit hang out in the vegetable section) Harold also has a weight problem and his wife lets him know if every five seconds. Somehow Jason gets mixed into this plot by showing up on their property and stealing their laundry. As you can see audiences were heartbroken when Jason threw a butcher knife at him. (Probably out of disgust) But if Jason did not kill him the Health inspector would have.
Can't you see the excitement of watching this in 3-D!?

Well it has been revealed that Jason was actually alive at this point in the series. He didn't turn into a Frankenstein monster till chapter VI when he was ressurected from the dead. From chapter VI onwards, he never showed any sign of pain except for in "Jason Goes To Hell". However, in the "Jason Goes To Hell" workprint, all the grunts and yells of pain Jason has in the released print are absent from the workprint. The director added these in during post-production to give the screen limited Jason some character development.
