Let me start this by saying that I love horror movies. My favorite set of horror films is the Texas Chainsaw Massacre films, yes, even 3 and 4. Now, with that being said, let me tell you how much I hated Wolf Creek and how if I hear it compared to my beloved TCM films again, I will vomit. Wolf Creek is a poorly thrown together piece of crap. It attempts to be scary, and isn't. The first hour is a load of nonsense leading up to a killer that isn't all that menacing, just annoying. There are two decent scenes, but, nothing real spectacular. The ending is rushed and doesn't really explain anything. Now, I don't have to have everything laid out for me, but, this was just bad as a whole. Don't waste your money, really. I mean, I didn't, I bootlegged it. And, I'm sorry I wasted my time.
And, for the record, Leatherface would've killed them kids and the killer with breakneck speed.
To hell with Wolf Creek.

I have no interest whatsoever in horror films.
But I enjoyed Ebert's zero star review of this one. It included the quote, "Made me want to vomit and cry at the same time."

I saw this Monday, I think it was. I too love horror films. This movie was okay, but since they had Austrailian accents, there were places where I couldn't understand what they were saying. The first part of the movie was like a road trip movie and then when the killer shows up, he's not really scary. I agree with TS69 that Leatherface would have dispatched them all very quickly.

No interest in horror film? You liked Passion of the Christ. Just kidding Mr. A. I actually like POTC. Just wanted to make it clear I was joking in case you got offended. Even though I can be cranky, it takes a lot to offend me. And I suppose I should explain my earlier post. I like some horror films, provided they're something other than sadistic and/or violent for violence's sake. For example, I love "Evil Dead 2" because it's gory AND funny. But the current stream of serial killer flicks seem to follow no other purpose than to make the audience feel as abused as possible.

So is it as psychologically violent as they say it is? If so I want to see it...if not forget it.
I'm really in the mood to see some torture.

Well, understand this about it, it is psychological, but, for only about 20 minutes. If you can sit through the hour of garbage, then, yeah, it may be worth it, but, not to me. Servo

Wait, what's the difference then between Wolf Creek and Hostil, or whatever it's called? From what I hear, Hostel has graphic scenes of torture. Wolf Creek was just one long ungraphic torture. Servo

I got those two confused too, I think because of Quentin Tarantino's name being mentioned in both. I still will see both, but they will most likely be DVD rentals.

I saw this last weekend, and I rather liked it. It had a very grimy, documentary feel that I like in horror films, and I actually liked the fact that it was kind of slow-moving and took a lot of time to build up to the climax. It actually wasn't as violent or gross as I was expecting, and I didn't find it scary (although my husband did), but overall I found it really good. I prefer more indie-type horror than the stupid, ADD-edited, CGI crapfests that pass for mainstream "horror" cinema. I still prefer "High Tension," (which I finally saw on DVD), but I think this was better than a lot of horror films I've seen.

I finally saw this.
I thought it was pretty bad actually.
There were a few intense scenes (actually the build up to one scene is intense...once it gets going it falls into cliche) but most of the film I found pretty cliche. The character's who are fairly convincing (in a indie cable movie way) in the first part begin acting stupidly once they meet the killer. I just wanted to scream, "Haven't you seen Scream?"
Some really stupid stuff.
By pure coincidence I rented a film that is much the same...begins with three people on a road trip and their car breaks down and then end up in a place with a lot of abandoned cars like in Wolf Creek. It's called The Sadist and stars Arch Hall Jr. and is a much much better film than this one. I'll post a bit more about later when I have time.

I hated this movie. It seemed so f'ing smug about being unhappy, and the villian was just a jackass. I wish I could say more, but I've done everything I could to reject this film from my mind.

I thought it was ok. It was pretty boring and the lack of music made it much harder to sit through. I enjoyed it more than Hostel though which i thought was a huge waste of money.

Wait, what's the difference then between Wolf Creek and Hostil, or whatever it's called? I haven't seen Wolf Creek, but I saw Hostel and I absolutely loved it. Eli Roth is a fantastic up and coming horror director. I expect big things in the horror genre from him in the coming years.
