I Liked The Producers, but for best musical, it's a close race between The Blues Brothers, Jesus Christ Superstar, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Look at all them commas.

I recently saw "Cannibal: The Musical."
Wow! It's kinda like hearing your favorite band's early demo tapes and discovering they were pretty amazing then, too.
Some very funny stuff.

Singin' in the Rain, A Hard Day's Night, and Help! are the only ones I like.

I can't believe I forgot Russ Meyer's "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls," one of my all-time fave bad movies.
Maybe not a musical exactly, but it's about an all-female band and the soundtrack is actually pretty good. Finally coming to DVD this summer.

Aside from the obvious rock musicals, I love Mary Poppins.

I liked the 1954 version of "A Star Is Born" with Judy Garland and James Mason. Becuase of the long running time, some of the musical numbers were cut out, but now there is a restored DVD version that has the numbers back on it.

Velvet Goldmine. Or Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Those rule. Hedwig and the Angry Inch is fantastic. And I have to agree with donmac: after I saw A Clockwork Orange hearing "Singing in the Rain" made me physically ill for years and years.

I agee with Elise on all her choices and might add "Lost Horizon", the version with Olivia Hussey.

Loved all the Beatles movies, thought Yellow Submarine very underrated. I also love The Buddy Holly Story, Gimme Shelter, Don't Look Back, This Is Spinal Tap, The Wall, Dazed and Confused , Woodstock and Almost Famous.

I grew up with "Oliver!", the 1969 version. But I also grew up with "Popeye" and "The Sound Of Music". I guess just those three for me.

Don't forget "The Nightmare Before Christmas". Thats probably the only musical I really enjoy, and rewatch. I don't know if I really consider Spinal Tap and A Mighty Wind a musical though. They were more like documentary's about musicians. But I love em' both anyway!

"The sky is blue, and all the leaves are green...." kinda like rough cut of the SP Movie's songs, i thought.

I can always watch South Park: B,L & Uncut. The music alone is great, the lyrics are a blast! Hedwig was pretty good, too.
