IMDB link hereI just saw this film today. It was sometimes funny, sometimes scary, and sometimes, it made me angry. However, it was never boring. It's the story of Nick Naylor, the vice president of the Tobacco Research Institute. This is a cigarette-company funded place to reenforce the idea that "there's no direct link between smoking and health problems." In other words, it's filled with double-talk and loads of lies, but it is an insider's look at how Washington works. I recommend you see this film if you haven't. It's one of the best I've seen in a long time.

Yeah, I just wrote about seeing this in the "So I Just Finished Watching" thread. I liked this a lot too. Great satire.

Is it more about Washington than about the way that cigarette companies work? Or is the Washington stuff just an aside thing since the tobacco industry has some influence there?
Either way, this is something that I've wanted to see since I first saw the trailers.

Either way, this is something that I've wanted to see since I first saw the trailers. It's kind of more about this one guy, a tobacco lobbyist, and the whole sort of moral thing about how he can live with himself, etc., except done in a funny way. More emphasis on him and the tobacco companies than on the one senator (played by William H. Macy).

Saw this today...er, last night I guess. I really liked it, what more can I say? It seemed to parallel my Econ class, I might have to recommend this to my prof. Couple of interesting previews too.
