Quick opinion poll.
Deep Discount DVD is having a "Buy 2, Get 1 Free" sale on Paramount titles. Because they're about to come out on HD-DVD, all Trek Movies have dropped in price to $9.36 and are included in this. I currently have none of these movies on DVD (I've had many of them in the past but...)
I'm trying to decide if I should get Star Trek Nemesis (a/k/a ST: Nemepoopie - Attack of the Clone).
I've never seen the movie but I've read the screenplay - such as it was. I consider it a bigger piece of poopie than ST:V and twice as insulting.
I also understand that they cut a lot of scenes from the original release that dealt with (even if it was lamely) with plot development...but they only included them on the DVD as "Extra Scenes" one of which is introduced by Berman.
I'm worried about what I would throw at the TV should this appear on my screen.
But I know I do want to see this someday....probably the day I decide to give up on Trek for all time. And there's the being a "Completeist" thing....
Your opinion. Should I buy it or not?
Won't you? Thank you.

The extras on Nemesis are pretty good. And, as far as I'm concerned, Insurrection sucked a lot more.

And in INS they only made fun of the size of Worf's pimple....not his "area".

Buy it, just so you can have it. The Deleted scenes are very insightful. Be sure to watch the alternate ending to see how Nemesis could have been 10 times as bad.

I say get it. You'll keep wondering about whether or not it's the right decision otherwise.
I listened to the commentary for Nemesis the other day...that director cut a LOT of stuff that would've (I think) improved the film. I think this movie's only real mistake was getting a director who wasn't familiar with the franchise. Data's death could've been almost as nice as Spock's if it'd been handled differently.
Also, the director had the wrong story in mind while directing it. He said that the script should play like "Rebel Without A Cause." I think he should've directed it as if it were "Le Morte D'Arthur."

I say get it. You'll keep wondering about whether or not it's the right decision otherwise. I did....and it's on it's way with the other TNG movies and ST: The Motion Sickness. All the others (the better ones) are on back order. You could hear it? I've heard he mumbles in monotone all through it. That could have been helped by a good screenwriter as well. As I wrote about the Nemesis screenplay at the time (paraphrasing Emo Phillips' comment about Carrot Top), asking John Logan to write an insightful, character driven story is like throwing a medicine ball to Stephen Hawkings....

That is by far the greatest analogy for anything that I've heard this month, thanks. Most of my signatures on TrekBBS have been anti- Nemesis....like my current one: "ST Nemesis: "Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction." – Albert Einstein"

Okay....I bought Nemesis....
Got the DVD this weekend and it's rattling....like I imagine John Logan's head does.
Should I make a big deal out of it? I would probably have to open it up and I don't want to do that yet....

I would probably have to open it up and I don't want to do that yet.... Nemesis didn't come in the cool individual 'pages' in the DVD. It's a big hollow case with the two disks stacked on top of one another. That's probably why it's rattling. Mine did the same when I got it.

Mine did the same when I got it. Ahhh....that explains it. Also thought it might be that they included a free bullet for you to blow your brains out after watching the movie...
