Am I the only one that thinks Ghost Rider looks retarded? I think it looks not great. But then again, I love The Punisher.

I think it looks beyond dumb. Who wants to see Nicholas Cage turn into a bad CGI skull thing on a flaming motorcycle? You have to let go of belief when you watch something like that, after all It's just a movie. They could have made it look real by lighting the stuntman's head on fire...but that probably would not have worked. It would have been hilarious though.

Agreed.
Although change that sentence to "They could have made it look real by lighting Nicholas Cage's head on fire" and I would organize field trips for school children to see it.

My brother is the X-Men freak and he seemed to enjoy it.....I am more of a DC guy myself

I saw it with the wife on Sunday. It was definitely entertaining, but I'm not into these films nearly as much as my wife is. I never read the comics as a kid, so I have no idea who this Gambit character is, or why a lot of people (wife included) are complaining about that person not being in it. I really enjoyed the guy who played Bullet Tooth Tony in Snatch playing Juggernaut. He brings up the enjoyment level of the film up quite a bit as soon as he shows up. Overall I enjoyed it, and I'll happily put it next to parts I and II in our DVD collection when it comes out.

Gambit is basicly a southern, cajun character with a great deal of additude. I'm a little rusty as to what his power was, but I believe it has something to do with kinetic energy. In the 1992 animated series, he made a lot of playing cards glow and blow up.

I think it looks beyond dumb. Who wants to see Nicholas Cage turn into a bad CGI skull thing on a flaming motorcycle? I Do! I Do! I loved the comic book (second series was the best) and Cage is perfect for the part. As for the CGI, he should look different, otherworldy and unreal - and it's the only way to get such a character on screen anyway. So suspend beleif, sit back and enjoy the ride. Chill baby, chill - it aint worth spilling sweat over. Dig

Enjoyed the movie. I thought it was the best one. Not accounting much for taste.
Gambit can load up objects wif (using my ebonics skeelz) Kinetic Energy and then use said objects as weapons. He usually uses playing cards for it. Oh, and he is immune to Rogue's power draining ability.
Ghost Rider does look cool, as does Supes.

Overall I really enjoyed the movie. I liked Kelsey Grammer as Beast. That was an awesome fit.
To be honest, towards the middle of the film I was getting mad. And by the end, I was ready to stand up and pull out a Kevin Murphy "Boo!" on the film. But the last half second of the film redeemed itself and I was happy.
The movie had the most gratuitous use of mutant powers, but I didn't care. I liked it. I do wish they would have put some focus into the story - maybe made it really about Jean Grey/Phoenix struggles and not so much about the "mutant cure." Also was surprised the see Professor X walking in his youth. Wasn't he always wheelchair bound because his mutant power makes it impossible for him to walk? I'm a little fuzzy on my X-Men history. And Gambit would have been super awesome to see on screen. F Bobby and the mutant cure. Rogue needs some Gambit.
A co-worker pointed out his disdain for the movie when he noticed a paper cut on Wolverine's hand in a close-up. I didn't notice it. Even if I did, I would have found that laughable, not infuriating.
All in all I would recommend it to anybody. I love the X-Men.

Is it me, or is Anna Paquin getting really weird looking? Her eyes are too close together, or something.
*SPOILERS*
They should have just admitted that they needed a fourth movie and dropped half the storylines. Especially since the supposed "main ones"-- the mutant cure and Professor X's death-- are apparently only temporary conditions! Hope it doesn't ruin Rogue's makeout sessions with Bobby (hee hee.)
And poor Cyclops. He gets killed only twenty minutes in and he doesn't even get a death scene! Jeez, did he piss someone off or something? If I'm ever playing a mutant whose anguish is temporarily lifted by false hope only to perish in the arms of my lover, I WANT A FRICKEN DEATH SCENE! A BIG ONE! With screams and tears and a final touch or something, jeez! Jeez!
And what about Nightcrawler--any word on why he wasn't there? I've heard various rumors about the actor vs. the makeup, or vs. the new director.

I think it was just the idea of having three characters with blue skin. Plus at the end of X2, it was never really confirmed that he joined the X-Men. In fact, taking the story arc of the films into consideration, it makes more sense that he wouldn't stick around.

Cyclops' part was odd. Allegedly he was busy with the Superman movie.
As for Nightcrawler, he was awesome and I've heard various rumours why Alan Cumming wasn't in the 3rd movie, mostly about him being, well, unpleasant to work with, what with the body makeup and all.
