There are VHS copies available, but here are 3 I wish I could get on DVD -with extras if possible- (Though I guess I can wait and see if HD or Blueray to take hold) -
Let It Be - They've been working on it for ages, and there's tons of material that can be used as extras. What's the holdup? It's rumored they are indeed waiting to see what happens with this new technology
The Yakuza - This is a great Robert Mitchum flick, set in Japan -which unlike a later made movie called "Black Rain"- showed a lot of respect for the culture and its people.
Mirage - One of the last big studio B&W films (Though obviously, B&W has been revisited a few times since) - This was a Hitchcockian style adventure which starred Gregory Peck. I loved this film and haven't seen it in years.

You mention Let It Be. What about a widescreen version of Help!?
And a really decent version of A Hard Day's Night would seem mandatory.
(Valley of the Dolls and Beyond the Valley of the Dolls are both being released in June. It's about friggin' time!)

( Valley of the Dolls and Beyond the Valley of the Dolls are both being released in June. It's about friggin' time!) Mrs. Shep is getting me "Beyond the Valley" for my birthday. Jesus, I love that film. One of my fave intentionally bad movies of all time. Some pretty good tunes, too. I'm waiting for: John CassavettesHusbands Love Streams Lindsay Andersonif.... O'Lucky Man Rubin & Ed Mutiny on the Bounty (Brando version)--I think this is maybe coming out later this year.

Abominable. It just debuted on SciFi last night but it was brilliant.

(I thought the title was a warning. And I had just watched Incredibly Strange Creatures - The MST3K version!)

Since the original Godzilla and six other movies are coming to DVD ( in style baby), I wouldn't mind the following Godzilla films being released in thier original Japanese forms: King Kong vs. Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Godzilla vs. Megalon Godzilla 1985 Godzilla vs. Biollante Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah Godzilla and Mothra: The Battle for Earth Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla Godzilla vs. Destroyah Godzilla 2000 I also wouldn't mind seeing a silly 80s horror movie titled Alligator on DVD. I've seen this one on Sci-Fi several times, and found it very entertaining.

I was really surpised they didn't release "Help" during its 40th anniversary. (well, I guess not that suprised, since Apple is staffed by lawyers who go around suing everyone - there's not too many creative minds involved with them anymore) A Hard Days Night got a big DVD release a few years back - wasn't that decent? (I didn't have a problem with it so I'm curious what they did wrong)

First of all, A Hard Day's Night it's out of print. It shouldn't be.
Help! is also out of print, and the version they did release was (if I'm not mistaken) pan and scan.
I hesitated buying them because of the reviews. The transfer was the main complaint on both. And for some reason, I'm thinking mono soundtrack.
But both films should be in print, considering where they stand in Rock & Roll film history.
Now, for a film I wished was released on DVD:
Phillip Ridley's The Reflecting Skin. See the Disturbing Film thread.

BRIEFLY, okeefe, BRIEFLY. And I believe it was pan and scan. And as I stated above, complaints about the soundtrack.

Mutiny on the Bounty (Brando version)--I think this is maybe coming out later this year. YAY! Now could somebody pull their head out of their backsides and release the restored version of Burn? (That hack job they recently released is an insult to Brando fans and DVD aficionado's - Do they think we're stupid?)

Thank you, Mighty Jack!
Did you read the customer's reviews? A Hard Days Night is presented widescreen on DVD, but it was NOT shot in widescreen. It was shot in the original 1:37 aspect ratio. I knew the complaints had something to do with letterboxing. Also, the lack of extras (trailers, etc.).
