Let It Be - They've been working on it for ages, and there's tons of material that can be used as extras. What's the holdup? It's rumored they are indeed waiting to see what happens with this new technology Doubt we'll see that until McCartney passes....if then. Help! does need to be re-released, badly. And I guess people have problems with the new version of A Hard Day's Night, but it looks like it did the first time I saw it (don't ask). My personal list of movies that need to be out on DVD could take forever. Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie with extras. Everything available starring Lon Chaney (Sr.) but especially a double-disc of The Unholy Three both silent and talking versions. Everything starring Boris Karloff that isn't out already ( Five Star Final especially). The Georgio Moroder version of Fritz Lang's MetropolisRobinson Crusoe on Mars This Island Earth It Came From Hollywood Student Bodies (the Halloween parody) Island of Lost Souls Enchanted April House of Dark Shadows Night of Dark Shadows The Colossus of New York Bedazzled (Peter Cook and Dudley Moore version - the good one) The Incredible Shrinking Man The African Queen The Song of the SouthI'll think of more....

Rebel, rumor has it that the missing footage of Night of Dark Shadows has been found, and they are restoring the film. The original cast is doing the dubbing, except (of course) for Grayson Hall, who is no longer with us. They'll find someone to do her voice. Song of the South will never be released in this country. It's available in Europe, and we have a copy downloaded from a website somewhere. (I didn't do it, so I don't know.) I hope they give Boris Karloff the treatment they've been giving Bette Davis on TCM. They've been running all her EARLY Warner Bros. pictures, where she played the mousy sister, as well as the ones after they glammed her up. Some of those are pretty darn good. Universal needs to release all of their horror films. (Let's face it, the 5 film Lugosi set was just the start! It DID have The Invisible Ray, which was supposed to have been directed by James Whale, but he dropped out for some reason. They made a pretty tasty little film anyway, IMHO.) And, yes, Bedazzled. As far as I'm concerned, there's only one version. Peter Cook, Dudley Moore, and Eleanor Bron. Eleanor Bron? Say no more!!!

Last rumor I heard was that they were considering do a "silver tin" special release with all sorts of extras about why the movie is such a lightning rod, racially speaking. Of course, White House Spokesman Tony Snow using the "hugging the tarbaby" comment the other week may have screwed that up....

Thank you, Mighty Jack! Did you read the customer's reviews? A Hard Days Night is presented wide screen on DVD, but it was NOT shot in wide screen. It was shot in the original 1:37 aspect ratio. I knew the complaints had something to do with letterboxing. Also, the lack of extras (trailers, etc.). Yup, went in a read 'em - It seems we who hated pan and scan, were just giving the studios a new way to screw up. Why crop the tops and bottoms of movies? They did that with Hitchcock's "Wrong Man" - and with a guy who was so meticulous about framing - it's darn right criminal (to me it would be like going to an art museum an chopping off and inch from each painting) they did the same to Yellow Submarine - spent millions on restoration, but then chopped the tops off the heads of the Apple Bonkers. lol - why, I don't understand that reasoning.

They do that with modern movies I know. The fullscreen version of Shadow of the Vampire has more picture top to bottom than the widescreen DVD. But then the fullscreen one loses so much...

A Hard Day's Night is available in the deluxe edition Miramax put out recently. See here That's the one I have! It appeared fine to me, but I haven't watched it since I bought it, which was probably around it's release in 2002. I haven't watched the extras on it yet, either. Although not a film per say, I'm still making my way through the 5 disc Beatles Anthology. I have "Let It Be" on a mediocre VHS transfer, and "Yellow Submarine" in it's re-release. I'd take "Help" any way I could get it (har har). Haaaannnd...come here Haannnd...[/color] ;D

No, unfortunately, I do not. I'm thinking of getting a DVD burner for my computer, but it will be a while. I'll let you know when I do, 'k?

That's why CDs and DVDs were made so inexpensive and light to ship!

If you get an all-region dvd player you can get this on DVD (usually pretty cheap) from Amazon UK. I don't have that film yet, but I do have Cook and Moore in the hillarious "Derek and Clive Get the Horn."

Re: Bedazzled. If you get an all-region dvd player you can get this on DVD (usually pretty cheap) from Amazon UK. Well, that sucks. To me, that's like only releasing Peter Sellars or Doctor Who or Monty Python as region 2 because (supposedly) only the British would be interested. And who was the dickweed who came up with DVDs being regional in the first place? (yeah, I know it's supposed to keep some movies from getting to places before they're even released in the theater....but aren't most "blockbusters" released worldwide anyway?)

Graveyard Shift (87 vampire flick) The DVD Shriek Show released looks horrible and is in full screen. My Laserdisc looks 10 times better than my DVD copy.
Graveyard Shift 2: With a commentary explaining what the hell he was thinking haha
The Cat in the Brain
