I've been watching this as it airs. They're up to #45 so far. They've already spent most of my top 10 already.
The following didn't crack the top 40: This is Spinal Tap Ghostbusters The Blues Brothers Three Amigos Vacation Ferris Bueller Young Frankenstein Dr. Strangelove Monty Python & the Holy Grail
It's a fun countdown, but the rankings are a joke.
Anyone else watching this?
What would your top 10 be?

This list of comedies is, for lack of a better word, a joke.

OK, South Park, Shrek, and Animal House are alright, but There's Something About Mary and Caddyshack are both dreadful. This list of comedies is, for lack of a better word, a joke. See, I wouldn't put any of those in the top 5 (Caddyshack, maybe). Shrek doesn't deserve to be in the top 500, let alone the top 5. A total steaming pile, that movie. But I've ranted enough on Shrek in other threads on this board... I'm sorry, but not only are "Something About Mary" and "Shrek" not in the same area code as "Blazing Saddles" or "Airplane", they're not in the same universe. Oh, by the way, "Duck Soup" wasn't anywhere on the list. 100 Funniest Movies and no Marx Brothers? An outrage.

I'd like to see the whole list, but it looks like Yet-Another-Sucky-List based just on the Top-5. Out of those, only South Park even arguably deserves to be in the Top-25, but no way is it a Top-5 comedy. As for Caddyshack, it has a few funny moments (all involving Bill Murray or Rodney Dangerfield in supporting roles) that amount to less than 10 minutes of its total running time, but it is still one of the most overrated comedies ever made (the entire plotline dealing with the caddy who is the lead character in the movie: boring). Best golf movie ever? Yes. One of the best comedies ever? NO!
And no Marx Brothers at all on the list? They have to be kidding (pun intended)!

2) Caddyshack 1) Animal House I absolutely agree! Both these screenplays were penned by my hero the late great Doug Kenney, a comedy genius who cofounded National Lampoon Magazine and wrote the classic "1964 High School Yearbook" parody book. Unfortunately, he also did too many drugs and left us far too soon (he either jumped or fell off a cliff in Hawaii).

Thank you, Mr. Atari! Why wasn't Duck Soup on the list? Night at the Opera? The Three Stooges Meet Hercules??

Comedy is all I watch. So a ranking would be the worst. I know there are people like Richar Roeper who think comedy is underapreciated and that they should add a Best Comedy oscar. The ranking is a prime example of why they shouldn't. WEDDING SINGER #8 !!! WTF? Also Meet the Fockers #25 Caddyshack #2 Animal House #1 And I haven't seen Legally Blonde, but there is no way it is funnier than 40 year old virgin. Unless the Dr. Phil audience chose the movies.

Comedy is a rough thing to judge because it's so subjective. While there are many, many movies on this list that I hate, the 2 or 3 comedies I've liked are also accounted for. So whatever. It's all good.

No old movies at all. So this is funniest movies made since the 50's.
Pretty pathetic list really.
