At least with Gilliam's Brazil they did it to begin with....nearly at the same time as the "regular" version. What will this be? "Octo-dipped"?

This is a movie I need to try and watch as an adult, because I really think I will enjoy it now. I tried to watch as a teen and found it to be one of the most over-rated, boring pieces of crap I had ever seen.
Maybe I will wait for the version being discussed here.

I have to be honest....
Ruter Hauer is facinating in this film....it's definately interesting to look at... but as far as a subtext outside of the obvious (humans making androids as human as possible and then, when they dare to want human things like freedom and love and whatever, hunting them down like animals) I don't have a lot of use for it.

I love this movie, but this "Special Edition" version has been in the works for so many years that I'll believe it only when I actually see the disc on the shelf.
I have the only available release on DVD, the so-called "Director's Cut" version that I bought on a Black Friday for $5, but that version of the movie is too lacking. Dropping all of the narration was a mistake (IMO) because it left holes in the film in which nothing is happening and no dialogue is said. This movie has been overdue for a reworking that combines the best of all versions - if they do it right, it'll be a special edition that truly lives up to that billing.
