www.apple.com/trailers/independent/americafreedomtofascism/Looks like an interesting conspiracy theory movie. I have a few problems with it already though. 1. That quote by Bush is totally made up. No one on earth in a political position is dumb enough to say something like that. 2. Those videos of the protesters being chased are obviously incomplete and unexplained. What I like about it is that it is apparently unconnected with any party so it's not a "It's all the Democrats/Republicans fault!" Whaddaya think?

I have to agree and lean towards the negative also and here's another couple of reasons why:
The website this comes from touts itself as reporting politics without partisanship....however the more you read the more you see that this is not the case.
The "mainstream media" has not said word one about this. Had the PotUS, especially THIS PotUS said something like this that could be confirmed by reliable sources.....please....the press would have been on this like the proverbial flies on.....

Yeah, if there was even a 5% chance he said that every Democrat in the nation would have investigated it and tried to use it. Interestingly this movie is garnering no coverage at this point anywhere. I mean movies like "Farheinheit 9/11", "An Inconvinient Truth", and that new Guantanomo movie all got or are getting huge attention.

Also, spacechief, good call on the beating up of protesters. A lot of times documentaries will just show that kind of footage to arouse emotions, but fails to point out why the police resorted to Nazi-esque tactics. Police should never resort to "Nazi Esque" tactics. While sometimes the police may be violent but withi the law, and protesters may sometimes overstep their bounds, but every situation is not the same. I've been a protester at Chicago's largest protest since the sixties. The atmosphere was so thick it could be sliced with a knife. After all, we have a history of protests in Chicago. The police resorted to violence on a few seperate occasions. Sometimes, the overstepped their bounds. Usually, when they did that, they were acting out of fear and not anger. Some of the protesters were frightened by the police and made the first bad move. Basically, its not as simple as Police are wrong, or protesters are wrong. Or, at least, that's my experience.

I'm not surprised by anything in the trailer. There's just too many people on this planet. Too many people, too many personal interests, little desire for cooperation. Democracy sounds like a great idea on paper, but will never work as long as humans are humans. America will cave in on itself in the future. Will it be 10 years? 100 years? 1000 years? Who knows...
Having said that, I'll see this movie and become royally pissed off...
You're right, Cartman, people are a-holes. lol

LOL, I didn't mean literally Nazi-esque. I meant merely that often people show protesters getting the crap beat out of them, but rarely show why that happened. A lot of the times the protesters will be the first to shove. And alot of time not. Most of the time, though, either side is merely panicking. That, and most protestors have this idea that the police are the enemy, not people simply doing their job to support their family. While this movie is nothing more then an orgy of conspiracy theories that have no bearing in reality, I would like to point out: I Pass (or it's equivalent... I Pass is a system in Illinois that automatically takes toll money from your bank account when you pass through a toll booth. Many states have one) records have already been used in courts, showing that a record of where you are is being kept. Also, the "touch pay" system at some stores sort of freaks me out. The U.S. Government is wire tapping citizens. We all know that. The Bush administrations has openly stated "The For Us or Against Us" ideaology. So you can't be a patriot and disagree. Basically, my point is, we can make the arguments that Facism is on the rise in America. However, I also believe that, while we have a few times like this now and then, our country becomes more utopian every year. And the powers that be become frightened, and that is what causes facism in the U.S. Government. And it's not something so sinister as the Government being afraid of what may happen next.

manosguy.....I agree with your post in general, however I would take exception to the above 2 points.
You have some reasonable and intellegent arguments normally, some I agree with, some I don't. But even you have to admit that the above 2 statements from your post are basically talking points that VASTLY over simplify or even misrepresent the points you are trying to make.

I'm starting to think that society will head in a particular direction no matter what efforts people put into it...kind of like Terminator 3.

That, and most protestors have this idea that the police are the enemy, not people simply doing their job to support their family. *Applaus* Best post I've ever read. Thank God there's rational people out there. I also agree. Police are given serious responsibilities and expected to make some of the most difficult decisions in a split second. But they are still humans who experience fear and have survival instincts like anybody else. I think police officers should be making millions a year. F Lindsey Lohan. I don't see her dodging gunfire to save small children.

I didn't know it was possible to read deeper meaning into Terminator 3...hmmmmm.... I found that movie to be quite profound in its assumptions about fate. But that's just me. I'm kind of spooky that way.

Ironically the second Terminator film implied "there is no such thing as fate." I know a few people who hated Terminator 3 for that reason. It turned the tables on it's mythology, or whatever you want to call it. I didn't mind though. Maybe because I'm kind of a Debbie Downer in that I mostly believe we're all doomed. People are a-holes. But don't get me wrong. I'm still a blast at parties!
