Nifty.
I still remember how psyched I was about Sir Lawrence Olivier's appearance in Sky Captain And The World Of Tomorrow.

Thanks! I'm excited about this, too. Despite what our Mike Nelson said in Movie Megacheese, I thought Brando was terrific in the original "Superman" (playing his scenes as a Shakespearean tragedy. The look on his face as he kisses the baby goodbye never ceases to move me, as does the entire "You will travel far, my son" speech.) I'll catch "Superman Returns" just to see Brando--probably my favorite actor of all-time.

Just one question: is the new Superman movie a sorta re-imagining of the whole series, like Batman Begins or is it a sequel? It's kinda a mixture of both. Parts 3 and 4 are ignored completely because Bryan Singer doesn't think that they belong in the Superman storyline. He does acknowledge the first two movies though. ;D

The title "Superman Returns" refers to him returning to Earth after leaving following the events of Part II years earlier. (I'm glad they're doing this because Parts III and IV are so hideous they should be ignored... and preferrable destroyed by the Film Anti-Preservation Society.)

This film should work really well for me, then. I've never watched III or IV.
As I've said before, I love Superman, but I can't bring myself to buy the comic books. He has to be a "special treat," if you will. A movie sounds perfect for my tastes.

Don't envy me too much. I still watched Batman & Robin.

Thanks, Ratsy, for this cool thread. I wondered how they did the Brando piece. Can't wait to see the movie!
