Okay, maybe someone can help out because this has been driving us nuts for the last couple days. My boyfriend remembers seeing a movie from somewhere around the late 70s to early 80s. The movie evidently had a premise something like "The Haunting" or "The Legend of Hell House," with a bunch of people gathered/trapped in a haunted house for some reason. He remembers there was a ghost in it dressed from the 1700s or 1800s who was trying to help the people, and gave them a key or a deed or something to that effect. Also there was a scene at the end where the one guy who thought he escaped from the house stands in front of a gargoyle statue laughing and then sinks into the ground. Anyone know what movie he's thinking of?

Never mind, I was able to use some cunning Google-Fu and discover that the movie he was thinking of was "The Evil" from 1978. And now you know. :-)

Hell, I did that all the time with my ex when we were together. She had a habit of saying "Well now you know" after someone did something that annoyed her and she'll damn well tell you what it was. Drove her nuts.
I think it started after we saw Rise of Cobra and I nerded out when Dennis Quaid blatantly says "Knowing is half the battle" out of nowhere. I had to explain to her what made that line so damn funny and why I was the only idiot in the theater that was laughing.

OK, I think I asked this here before but there are some different eyes looking so maybe this will ring a bell with someone. Or maybe The New Mads is just old enough to remember.
Plus when I was talking with my sister she brought up that she was 8 when we went to Mackinac Island.
So, a movie then produced in 1983 or earlier (hence my sister's age relevancy) we saw a portion of a movie in a hotel room (with HBO maybe?). The scene was two or three white guys, maybe playing journalists, get stopped by a bunch of Junta soldiers. They are lined up adjacent a cargo train. The junta boss orders them killed, at which they are riddled with assault rifles. I distinctly remember one of the victims trying to cover up his head in a vain attempt to not die. At that point my father said "For chrissakes, that's enough" and turned off the boob tube.
But that scene has stuck with me and I've never seen it again. I'd love to know where it came from, or even possibilities or what it might be from.
Almost zero to go on, but I'd take shots in the dark.

Not a bad thought but I was in High School by the time Salvador came out. The movie I'm looking for was earlier. But very close in feel and content.

I see Mitchell's question hasn't been answered. I'll bump it after work, because I got a quick question I want to post.
My question is about 1984's Ghostbusters. The soundtrack includes the Ray Parker theme song and the track "Cleaning Up the Town" which were clearly commissioned for the film. However, there are generic pop-style songs like "Savin' the Day", "Magic", "Hot Night", and "In the Name of Love". Are these also songs that were specifically commissioned for the film or are they just really obscure pop songs whose only relevance is being featured in the Reitman film?
Thank you!

It looks like from the information that I could find, that all the songs; with the exception of The Thomson Twins "In the Name of Love" and The Trammps "Disco Inferno;" were recorded exclusively for the movie.

Thanks a lot, Chicken! It's most appreciated. I'll go ahead and bump Mitchell's last inquiry. Years ago, I posted this question and someone found the movie for me. But now I can't find the thread, and the memory of the movie is itching my brain once again. So here goes:
It's a made-for-TV movie of the week from the mid '80s about a teenager who has a disease that causes him to age too fast. He only has a few months to live, and the movie is about his quest to fulfill 3 wishes before he dies.
Go.

I think that would be "The Three Wishes of Billy Grier" with Ralph Macchio.. www.imdb.com/title/tt0088261/
