One of the first movies my girlfriend and I saw together! Actually, it was on in December when Alton Brown (of Food Network fame) was a guest progammer in Turner Classic Movies. 'Tis a good 'un!

Yep, I've had What's Up, Tiger Lily? on DVD for a few years now, and have known of it longer than that. Terry and I both enjoy it, as I think any MST fan would!
WU,TL? is the father of MST3K, I think. There's no silhouettes and the soundtrack is replaced with riffs rather than accompanied by them, but it's essentially MST3K in every other way! It's hysterical (it's Woody Allen, after all), and there're some really fantastic riffs in it!

It's a very funny movie, but I'll admit my bias towards all things Godzilla-related plays a part. You can't go wrong with Mie Hama, Akiko Wakabayashi, and Kumi Mizuno, the Toho Trinity of Titillation. Having Ultraman as the villain doesn't hurt, either.

This is the Woody Allen over-dubbed movie right? 1960's vintage?

Yes it is, doc. A very funny Woody Allen project.

It's a pretty good project, but not what I consider a forefather to MST.
It's more in the vein of Mad Movies with the L.A. Connection, Fractured Flickers or other various dubbing replacements. A very good movie. I'm thinking of doing my "own" version of this concept, pretty soon as a little project, with another film.

I watched it oh, 15, 20 years ago with a friend who loved it. I thought it was unfunny as hell. But I've thought about giving it another shot just to see if age will change my opinion. But I doubt it, a lot of that dubbed stuff doesn't make me laugh anymore. J-Men, even mad Movies haven't aged well for me.
I used to love the Steve Martin, "Man Who Wore Plaid", I wonder if that would still be a hoot today?

I first saw this move at my university library at a console/headphones set-up. Not a good idea as I couldn't stop laughing. Starts slow but once Wingfat gets into the picture...
"Driver, kidnap us please." "Don't look now but here comes the director and his wife. Egomaniac" Oh, Phil, all you ever think about is sex. Look at the size of that smokestack!" "He lives in this piece of paper?" "It's a special camera. It takes a picture of you normal but when the picture gets developed, you come out naked. Now I'm going to go home and have laugh at your chubby theighs." "It's not luck. It's skill." "This Peter Lorre impression is killing me." "Mom!" "What I always liked about Mother is that she can take a punch." "He hit her boss" "That's a thing to do to his mother." "You forgot the mayonaise? I told you to bring a jar, Ok, we'll use the Miracle Whip!" "He is crazy." "It's not real money, it's Monopoly money." "60, 70, 80, 90...""Is she going to go through the entire alphabet?"
What bothers me about this movie is that there are two versions of it, one pretty basic and one that's a bit bluer {and funnier}. The most recent DVD I saw of it has both versions and it details where there are different jokes. I first saw the *blue* version but the VHS tape I later found was the basic one.

Really, see I saw it back in the VHS days. I'll have to try that different version on DVD.

I still stand by my Grandfather statement! Especially now that Joel himself has said:
"Also, I saw “What’s upTiger Lilly?” in college and that changed my life."

I liked the intro with the animated Woody Allen and the music by The Lovin' Spoonful.
