I've noticed that some of the rifftrax films are on the encore movie channels on my digital cable. I just tivoed Road House off of an encore channel (I think it's called The action channel or something). Will this version work with the Rifftrax? They show the films commercial-free, and I don't believe that they cut anything, but I could be wrong.
Has anyone tried this?

well a search of the official forums on reveals that others have talked about it, (road house and point break in particular) but nothing on how it actually worked out.

Well If they don't have a history of cutting then I would say go for it, Road House is considered one of the best and since it was the first one it's a cheaper one at 1.99, you would only be out 2 bucks if the cuts were too annoying. And if they don't cut the nudity or violence in that film you could be reasonably certain that others would be fine.

I didn't realize the Roadhouse one was only two bucks. I'm fairly new to the rifftrax thing. Only heard two so far.

Yeah it was the first one they did, sort of a test the water thing, so it's cheaper.

As mentioned in the past, it will work, as long as the channel you're watching doesn't show commercials and as long as they don't cut the movie. You might also want to tape the movie, incase you start running into 'drift' issues and you need to pause the movie to get it back in sync.
Bottom line though, is you will get best results using the DVD version of the movie.

I authored "Point Break", "Roadhouse," and "Cocktail" from Encore on-demand. Works great.

He means he mixed the RiffTrax audio in with the movie audio and burned it to a DVD. This way you don't need a separate MP3 player and you don't have to try and manually sync it up every time you watch it...its always in sync. There are several of us that are doing the 're-authors' and there is a quite an extensive section on the official RiffTrax forum that talks about how you do this: www.rifftrax.com/smf/index.php?board=2.0

AMC edits the movies. They cut out swearing, nudity, etc. etc. And they interrupt the movies with commercials.
