As you may or may not be aware, RiffTrax is beta testing a RiffTrax Software player. Essentially it will be a software program that you will use on your computer that will do all the syncing for you. Pop your DVD in your computer, load up the RiffTrax MP3 and watch away (on your computer). You will be able to pause, rewind and fast forward without having to re-sync/lose sync.

I've heard something about it gammer, but I haven't been keeping up on things. The main problem is it sounds like this software program is just for computers, right? Seems kind of unnecessary - I mean, syncing the movies and the rifftrax is already fairly easy on the computer. But it's certainly not as easy when you're trying to sync up things in your living room. I'm not in college anymore, and these days I always watch movies in the living room, far from the confines of my computer and monitor. The stuff they're working on in no way helps those of us who don't want to watch their movies on the computer, right?
I mean, it's cool they're doing what they can to improve quality for the rifftrax audience, but personally it doesn't sound like it'll do me any good :/ No point in having a nice new TV and stereo system hooked up near a comfy couch and recliner in the living room and then sitting in an office chair 10 inches from the computer to watch a movie.

I said "maybe" but upon further review my answer is "no." I'd much rather watch them on TV.

I guess if you don't mind watching on your computer its ok. The only other way I can see this working for you is if you have a TV-Out on your computer. Then you could hook your computer up to your TV and still enjoy it in your 'comfy-comfy' chair.

The RiffTrax player is a piece of computer software that acts like any DVD software on your computer, but of course also plays back the Riffs in synch with the movie. It is computer only software, but many computers built in the last five years have video output to TV. The "Media Center" PC is becoming more and more common, making the distinction between a computer and a DVD player hooked up to your TV increasingly irrelevant.
Does this help anyone who doesn't have media center capabilities and who doesn't want to watch RiffTrax movies on your computer? No. But it provides a viable solution for many other people. We hope to have the player out as a public beta within the next week or two.

I'd probably use it if I had DVD-ROM, but I don't, so I'll do it the old fashioned way.

Even I will use it, sure it won't solve everything, but it will remove a pretty big obstacle for many people.

The only reason I would likely not use it would be if I ever get in a position to master my own dvds. Aside from that, I just get ticked off because I can't rewind any funny bits. The tradeoff of watching it on my computer would be alright.

I may use it to help provide the RiffTrax folks with feedback on how to make it better. But for my own use, I prefer to reauthor.

I think that anything that makes RiffTrax easier is a step in the right direction. I'm sure my dad would appreciate something along these lines, though I don't personally need it myself.
