I know there isn't a whole lot of love for Rhino here, but I must give them some props for reissuing the Traveling Wilburys. The collection comes with both cds, vol 1 & vol 3, and a dvd about the making of the first album and videos they made from both albums. If you're a fan of any of these guys, you should get this. I haven't stopped playing it since I got them.

Cool, I'll have to get that one.
Rhino's done a pretty good job with the music. Their releases for the Ramones and the Monkees have been stellar.
They introduced Love's "Forever Changes" to a new audience.
Did they release Nuggets as well?

I've been trying to convert many of my LPs to CD. (since my needles broken. Grrrr) So I bought this one from John Lennon. Easily one of my top 10 fav albums. Though it can get pretty difficult to listen too (I imagine many a Christian has cringed at a few of the lyrics) Money's tight, but I like to get a CD on each paycheck. I should start a poll, "what should I buy next"? Peter Gabriel's "Security" Beau Brummel's Vol 2 Love "De Capo" Alice Cooper's "Love It To Death" I have "The Leaves" on backorder.

Had never seen it before.

This is my recent music purchase. It is an AWESOME album.. Not on the same level as say, Mechanical Animals..but still good. A lot of ppl are pissed though because the album is 'guitar driven'. Aka a lot of cool guitar solos... Which , ummm...shouldn't a rock album BE guitar driven... My fave song is "Just a Car Crash A Way". It is a sad ballad that hearkens back to late 80's rock ballads.

Hey MJ, I'd vote for Peter Gabriel's Security. I like those early solo albums of his.
I couldn't really say anything about Alice Cooper ('cept I like a little of his stuff and he's from my state!) or The Beau Brummels ('cept that I like Herman's Hermits better, and they're in the same school in my head . . . even if that means I'm ignorant). But, I gave Da Capo a cursory listen the other day and found "7 & 7 Is" to be the only song worth my time (and I have that on another LP).
I take it you already have (on LP)/have had/are familiar with these albums . . . But, that's my bit anyway.

Found it at Best Buy for $7.99 - It's getting good reviews but I don't know. It's gonna have to grow on me -if I ever do like it. I don't mid change and I like variety within a record (I.E, Revolver) but this album lacks any focus, it's just chaos and nothing blends. Lyrically it lacks the depth I'm accustom to from Jenny, and is often repetitive. It's got these disco songs... I hate disco, I would like to destroy disco from my memory. I hate it when Kiss tried it, it sucked when Blondie tried it. It sucks when Rilo does it! There are a handful of those folk/country tunes, one that echoes Dylan's style of words and music that I liked. But overall, I only spent $8 but that feels like a rip off. I'll give it a few more spins, but I' not hearing what the critics are hearing. It's an un-cohesive mess.

Oh, cool, you heard it. I was going to direct you to their MySpace, where they were streaming the album. I've listened to a little of it and it's not too bad. The good reviews are only coming from the mainstream press. The crowd who knows them best is not liking this album. And given the poor taste of the mainstream media, I'm inclined to side with the wisdom of the pretentious hipsters.

Nice to see another jazz head in here. Black Market Jazz, another member here, seems to have good taste, as well. Listening intently to Lee Morgan's The Sidewinder, Clifford Brown / Max Roach and Thelonius Monk's Monk's Dream, namely the drums, has been apart of my daily ritual as a means to help me with my practice sessions. Anyhow, last week, I got this... Kon, Amir & DJ Muro's Kings Of Diggin': A double disc compilation of obscure funk music from highly dedicated and regarded record collectors. A lot of the selections are either Caribbean, early disco, South American or fusion jazz, all with heavy drums. It's an excellent listen even to those not "in the know". There should be some soundclips available online, but I haven't checked.

Paul Simon's You're The One. (I'd post a picture, but I really can't bother to upload a picture and they don't allow hot-linking here.) It's really an underappreciated album. It's obviously not his best, but there's some very solid songs on there. I'm looking to pick up Rhythm Of The Saints next. Indeed it is, HB , but while you're back-tracking to ROTS , have you maybe heard of > ?? even kinda' "better" ! a touch more solid thru the end I thought, where Yer The One had "weaker" stuff in the homestretch

I found Alice Donut's "The Untidy Suicides of your Degenerate Children"... ON VINYL! I just about wet myself. It was that amazing.

I dont buy too many cds anymore but picked up these three last Friday... Last week a documentary about Genesis was on VH1. I had forgotten just how great their early Peter Gabriel stuff was. Pearl Django, an excellent Gypsy Jazz group from Seattle. Progeressive rock group Goblin put out some of the best horror soundtracks of the 70s and 80s that I have ever heard.
