I just got back from seeing the Zedashe Ensemble.
They're a group of 9 Georgians that go around singing and dancing their folk songs while playing traditional Georgian instruments. Not normally my cup o' tea, but I'm just so intrigued by other cultures and their history (especially smaller countries) that it's interesting. Their voices were amazing. I wish I could sing like them.

Sorry for the double post but I just got back from the Coheed show... ABSOLUTELY FU**ING AMAZING. I cannot describe the energy that was present at that show. Un-frigging-believable. I was singing and screaming my heart out, and I completely lost my voice but I don't care. Simply the greatest show I have ever witnessed. I was right up front and screamed to bassist Mic Todd that he is god. He got a good laugh out of it. Just amazing... Please excuse the quality of this picture, but there was so much going on and it was a crappy cell phone picture that my friend took. I'm the one in front with my fist raised.

Going to see British Sea Power tomorrow night in Glasgow. In the Arches nightclub so the gig'll be on under one arch (it's inside a railway bridge that leads into Glasgow Central station) while the nightclub will be on as well in another. Also making sure I get there early as the last time i went to see them I walked in to find the band playing to about 50 people 5 minutes after the doors had opened. I thought I'd gotten my times mixed up and seriously underestimated BSP's popularity! Turns out they do two sets either side of the support act, the first being album tracks and b-sides for the hardcore support. Hopefully they do that again tomorrow. Wee video for you: uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Peo0s75QDR0First heard them when they supported The Flaming Lips at the Barrowlands many moons ago. That was one hell of a show from both.

The Police, with Elvis Costello, are playing here in Columbus this Sunday evening. Just for giggles, I checked ticketmaster to see if they had any single seats left, and they do have some...for $227 each!!!! I saw them on their Synchronicity tour in '83 ('84?), and I'll just keep that memory. $227 *sheesh*

Gotta go get tickets tomorrow for Peter Murphy. He's playing in Orlando on July 6th. I wanted to go to the Jacksonville show on July 4th as well, but unfortunately I can't afford it. I've seen him lots of times already (probably five or six times solo and twice with Bauhaus), but hey, it's PETER FREAKIN' MURPHY. Word.

Got my ticket through the post for The Blue Nile at the Glasgow Concert Hall in July. I feel a little squishy inside!

They were talking about this band on Howard Stern today, only because one of their Bit Producers, Richard Cristy, went to see them this weekend. They must be good, because Richard wanted to listen and see every note performed. To the point that rather than miss one minute of the show, he urinated in his pants! Needless to say, he got a lot of grief from Howard and everybody else. So they made him stand in front of everyone in the studio today, seeing how well adult diapers work. Oh, I did hear a bit of the music. The singer DOES sound a lot like Geddy Lee. Edit: On the replay this afternoon, I caught the name of the song Richard REALLY did not want to miss: Mother Superior

Saw Tom Petty on July 5th in Milwaukee and July 23rd here in Minneapolis. That man NEVER disappoints! I wish I could see him live on a monthly basis.
Just learned that Opeth will be in town in September. Definitely looking forward to that show.

I saw (Ryan Adams and) the Cardinals tonight - great show! Nice! Such an awesome setlist. Desire, Afraid Not Scared, and Note to Self!?!?! I've been listening to Thursday's show this afternoon. Not sure what I think of the new stuff yet (though I love "Like Yesterday"), but it's great to see them working with Tom Schick.

I was also at the Columbus show in Oct 2007, and that was my first time seeing them live. I wish I had the funds to drive to the Cleveland show tonight - they have great single seats left, like 7th or 8th row.
I actually got into them only about 2 years ago, with Cold Roses. I'm working my way through Ryan's back catalog, but have nothing earlier than Heartbreaker atm.
