^^ What's so funny is that I have no problem with sexy artists. Madonna never pretended to be anything but sexy; that was and still is her persona. What I have a problem with is artists who present themselves as very clean and wholesome, then turn around and slut it up. People like Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus built careers around being role models for little girls, then went ahead and completely trashed it up. That's what's so offensive; it's so hypocritical and so painfully typical of today's society. I personally see Madonna as somewhat of a feminist icon because she spat in the face of convention and never apologized for being unique, whereas Britney and Miley Cyrus are setting us back because they are convention. If you want to be a sexy artist, fine. Just don't be a hypocrite.
Of course, this is all probably a moot point because Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus are pretty terrible artists to begin with.

-We Built This City - Jefferson Starship. This is probably my #1 choice for Worst Song Ever. The video just makes it worse. Yeah, if you built this city on rock'n'roll - why don't you try SINGING it?! Some others that suck: That "Um-bar-ella - ella - ella..." crap from Rhianna. There's a song from some group called the Ting Tings (?!) called Great DJ (the drums, the drums, the drums...) Shut UP!!! Also: Muskrat Love - WTF?

Most Taylor Swift songs bug me. They've always seemed like Facebook posts turned into songs.
Like in Teardrops On My Guitar - "Drew looks at me...I fake a smile so he won't see...What I want and I need...And everything that we should be..." Such poetry; her intonations make it sound even more self-centered.

Gotta agree with you there, Nuveena. Her and Katie Perry are bad. Also bad is The Badger Song Brokencyde is a bunch of shamless pandering to the lowest common denominator. One Jkazoo mentioned, AxCx believes that if you can't sing, scream and the audeince won't notice. Speaking of bands that can't sing but scream instead, Atrocity is pretty aptly named. Seplatura falls into this category as well as does Null Dynamo. Just search youtube for Null Dynamo's cover of Duran Duran's "The Chauffeur." I'd mentioned this one in a previous thread here, Pun-colle is a bunch of squeaky-voiced Japanese actresses butchering punk and alternative songs. German singer Heino is worth mentioning too, although he's been mentioned before. I also mentioned Bob Offenberg (a.k.a. Zanger Bob) before as well. He's that fat Dutch kid that tries to be a mack daddy. Country and Western band Two Tons of Steel did a cover of the Ramones' "I Wanna Be Sedated." As you'd expect, it didn't work.

The one that I think is funny is the really cutesy song where she takes on the persona of Juliet and sings to Romeo. Um, she does know what ended up happening to Romeo and Juliet, right? Taylor Swift is kind of irritating, but she doesn't make me rage the way a lot of other current "artists" do. She may be a terrible songwriter, but at least she writes her own terrible stuff and has a decent voice, which is a rarity in music now.

LOL right on there. I consider Madonna a feminist icon as well. Love her or hate her, she really started from nothing and unlike a lot of the newer pop stars (Britney, Miley, Lindsay Lohan, etc), she wasn't brought up by crazy stage parents to be a child star. She's also pretty damn blunt about her persona, instead of playing the coy "good girl or bad girl?" game. But I digress. As for bad songs, did I mention Dancing on the Ceiling by Lionel Richie already? The song's bad and the video makes me cringe.

I hate that Katy Perry song, "Firework". "Make 'em go ahh, ahh, ahh.." WHAT?!! That's terrible! And she's not really singing it, she's just kind of yelling it. Blech. Edit: And then she rhymes "ahh" with..."SKY?"

Also, Smell yo dick, by riskayyy This is now officially my favorite song. I'd link to it, but I'd probably have to ban myself.

This is probably the worst pop song to come out in the past 20 years. If this is where pop music is heading these days, I REALLY do not want to hear what it'll be like in the next 20.

Born This Way by Lady Gaga. IT SUCKS HARDCORE! I can't wait for Perform This Way by Weird Al to drop. Out of all the singers that Weird Al has spoofed, Gaga deserves it the most!

Save your ears though, they might just start to bleed profusely from the shrieks of this banshee.
