The first two Oasis albums were worth getting on vinyl because of the vinyl-only bonus tracks. "Definitely Maybe" had "Sad Song," which is arguably one of the greatest Oasis songs ever, and "Morning Glory" had the hillarious "Bonehead's Bank Holiday."
Personally, I like vinyl because of the larger album art.

I am too.
I have just started collecting records, but I got a record player for Christmas last year, and I already like them better. I think that most older bands sound better on vinyl.
Plus, I get this historical songs compilations, that you can't get on CD.

This is one of the few albums I have that I don't think is on cd: A live album. The material is good, but I just don't like the performances all that well. Aside from a brief "Orange Blossom Special" and a blistering, pitch-perfect "Great Balls of Fire" (coming out of nowhere, in the middle of "In the Hall of the Mountain King," no less), it's not so great.

I find that there are a lot of records that, while not necessarily collectible or rare, just feel good to own on vinyl. Whether it's old stuff from the vinyl era, such as anything by Kraftwerk, Led Zeppelin, or XTC, or newer things from the CD era, like anything by The Beta Band or The Chemical Brothers or The White Stripes, it's just a great feeling simply to own some things.

Here are scans of some of my 7" collection: Click. (some of the pics are missing) It's an addiction, surely. Older, keen-eyed people from the S.F. Bay Area might be able to spot the ultra-rare "Creature Features" record... ;D

Ooh, very nice! I have a couple of those. Four actually. But there are more that I'd want!

It can definitely become an obsession, and can be dangerous when it interferes with other financial commitments...I don't do much collecting now, more than likely I'll start selling off most of it over the next few years.

I don't generally go for stuff that's expensive. Mostly what I collect these days is weird stuff that no else wants. A lot of my 45s could be worth tons if they weren't in pretty nasty condition. But I'm not worried about collectibility or pristine records; I just love music. I also save a lot of money thanks to the place I work.
