Ok, I'd be REALLY surprised if anyone has listened to them. But MAN WOULD I BE ECSTATIC!!
I'd probably jump for joy if someone has heard of them. But they are my all time favorite band! They're a bunch of odd folks, it's hard to label 'em with a genre. Tom, the singer, has absurd vocals, the drummer plays trombone in some songs and in their later stuff their bassist plays banjo... oh it's awesome. The lyrics are weird and amusing. It's an orgasmic experience for your ears... well, not for the mainstream ear.
If Alice Donut were a person I'd marry them. GOD I LOVE THEM!!!

Hey Tapioka I've always been fond of Alice's. Cooper, Donut or even Alice from the Brady Bunch (she was cool). I don't have a lot of Donuts, but I like 'em. "Mule" is next on my wish list (I just bought the Zombies remastered Odyssey and Oracle and I wanna get the new edition of Piper by Floyd that was just released, maybe after that?) I had "Revenge Fantasies" on as I was driving to Portland 2 months ago, when the car went bat-sh!! insane and started spewing anti-freeze. Damn car, what a buzz kill, I was really digging driving 75 while "Come up with your hands out" played (what a disturbing song.... and shouldn't it be, come OUT with your hands UP?) I was in a music store in the Pearl District in Portland, but they had no Donut CDs - I was bummed, Dumb city! (But my friend bought me a Dropkick Murphies CD, so that helped ease my pain a little)

Wow MJ, that is a little creepy? ;D Just kiddin'. But really, are you lurking around the AD message board? Ha, that would be pretty cool! Mule is considered one of their best albums, get it for sure!! "Come Up with your Hands Out" is almost all true... but at the end Tom puts his own twist on it (if you couldn't tell!). I'm quite excited you LISTEN to them!!! Sucks about the anti-freeze part, though

Yeah I've been on their site the past couple months and when I checked out their boards it was like, "Hey, I know that avatar" lol. That happened once before on a movie forum I discovered. I bumped into someone from this board. Gee people how many boards do we visit a day? Is it true that they are classically trained musicians (Like the guys from "Trail of Dead") or is that one of those falshoods that get passed down as truth over the years?

Cool! Yeah, I changed my avatar there just yesterday to the same one as here, but I had the Stephen Hawking one before yesterday. Do you ever post or are you registered or anything? That's so cool, MJ!
Yeah, I think some are classically trained musicians, I'm not sure who all is though. I know Sissi is for sure. Maybe Michael or Dave is too. Not sure about Tom and Steve though, though I know Tom can also play drums and Steve can play trombone whilst playing drums... never thought about that one.
You're the first person I've bumped into from another board so far!

No I'm just a lurker. I haven't had any questions yet. I think the first time I got on there I wanted to see if they were still around, playing shows. I wish they had more info on the site, so the boards kind of fill in the gaps and make for some interesting reading.
The thing I like best about the bands sound are those guitars. The acoustic picking on "Road Kill" (I think) is very nicely done and that siren like lead on "Rise to the Skin" is simple but effective. It's like a nuclear warning signal, kind of apocalyptic sounding.

I think they're working on some new material, I'm hoping they'll play a few shows! Tom and Sissi moved to North Carolina, but I think the rest of them are still in the Brooklyn area. They played at the Knitting Factory last year.
I hope they do it again soon! I'll kill to see 'em. =]
