I'm ashamed that the first 5 pages of this board does not have a post dedicated to these genres!
Anyways, i'm currently listening to Pete Tong right now, brilliant DJ. I've also bought some Happy mondays and New Order songs on my iTunes!
And i'm saving my money for Ibiza next year.

Love Happy Mondays, New Order are good but not a patch on Joy Division (although it's not entirely fair to compare them, two very different bands same members or not). As for Trance Etc. for me it's the boring end of electronic music and Pete Tong is one of the worst offenders. Sorry. Just doesn't do it for me. Mind you the new Autechre album's p*sh and Chris Clark's new one is decent at best so the experimental side of it all might be on the wane for me too!

Happy Mondays are good. I liked some of their stuff back in the day, and also the "Playground Superstar" song they did for the "Goal!" soundtrack.
I like New Order, but I'm with Trumpy in that I prefered them as Joy Division. Still, it's hard not to like songs like "True Faith," "Regret," etc.

i also like the film 24 hour party people. yessss. Great film. Steve Coogan is terrific as Tony Wilson. (Actually when I first heard they were making Bill Corbett's "Starship Dave" script into a film, I thought it would be a perfect vehicle for Coogan--but they went with Eddie Murphy instead. )

Me too! I even got the DVD. Loved the "drummer on the roof" bit. And- "your guitar- Yes, YOU WEAR IT VERY WELL!"

My film lecturer's favourite film ever supposedly. I must admit I love it too YEEEESSSS!!!!
And the spot the actor/comedian/musician game is great fun. There are so many (some the film decides to tell you in that very sort of post-modern way that it was made in) but there are tons of them. Again, RIP Tony! And Ian! Somehow I'm not saying it about Shaun!
