Nope, but it does launch poorly guided model rockets... and it can fly! I edited the movie down to 10 minutes a while back for fun. If you haven't seen the clip, click Here and see for yourself. Wow. Those stretch uniforms and the hairstyles and the music and the skydiving and the flying scenes worthy of Puma Man--wow! That movie looks really hilarious.

Yeah, I was gonna add a caption to the video cassette case picture I posted above with Persis saying "V'ger Hungers"! ... but I thought it would be in poor taste. All the more reason I should go ahead and do it And actually, as ashamed as I am to admit... I don't recall what Dr. F said about Needham. What was it? In the host segments (Incred. Melting Man?) that Pearl & Dr. F lampooned studio executives, they offered Crow $800.00 (out of the 30 million dollar budget) for script rights to Earth Vs. Soup. When Crow complains, Dr. F says: -You know, Hal Needham once said "Give me a car and a dilapidated building, and I'll give you drama!" Or something to that effect. After seeing his IMDB credits (writer, stuntman, stunt-coordinator, producer, director) he was a real force in cheaply made movies with decent effects... Edit: I watched the Interview with Mike & Kevin on the Rhino Merlins Shop episode yesterday. Here's something to speculate about: Child BridesSleep well...

I'm doubting it's Child Brides, because of pedophilia being the main theme. I could see RiffTrax doing it, but I don't think that's Joel's kind of thing as he always seemed more PG than PG-13.
As for my guess. Since Holiday Special is out of the window, I could see it being Santa Claus and the Ice Cream Bunny which is much rumored and I know isn't public domain, but likely held by a someone with nothing better to do with it. Maybe we shouldn't be thinking Christmas. I know it's gotta be pretty bad, because they compared it to some of their all-time worse movies, and I'd be let down if the movie was only mediocre. (does that make any sense?)

Uh, that's not what I said. I said whatever movie chosen had better be worse than mediocre, because it's hyped up. I think SatICB would live up to expectations, which is why it's now my frontrunner.

I reread your post, and I get it now. Sorry.
I was telling my dad about CT, and when I told him I was hoping for SatICB as the premier, his response was "Oh God! Not that movie!" So, my previous statement still stands.

Here's my last-est, best-est guess.... The ultimate Star Wars rip-off (ever) was Roger Corman's Battle Beyond the Stars (1980).HA! Seen that when it was in the theater, and Richard Thomas and his mole are completely awful.. This and the fact that I actually watched the Star Wars Holiday Special when it was shown (ABC ?), makes me feel about 100 years old..

I will say I turned off the Holiday Special about the time the "Cirque de Solei" guy showed up to frolic about. It was more than I could bear. None of my friends owed up to watching it the day after and we quickly changed the subject. I did finally watch it about a year ago and god it was painful.

I caught it on Google Video a year or two ago. I didn't finish it either. The last thing I remember is seeing Art Carney and sighing. I'd love it if they did Battle Beyond The Stars. I've been dying to see that even without the riffing.

From the newest update: I assume that the movie they are watching in that picture is one that they are going to riff? Perhaps even the first one? If so, we know what the movie shows at frame 00:30:43:36 (?). An angled shot of a white/grey/blue van or truck. Not much to go on I guess but it's a lead and this is the speculation thread after all.

Well, I'd sort of hope they have the first one 'in the can' by now. On the other hand, they still haven't polled us as to our viewing preferences, so maybe not.

Yes, I was pondering what movie that might be myself. I'm sure they picked a scene that would be all but unrecognizable on purpose. I'm at a loss as to what it might be. And why were they working on Thanksgiving?

I doubt they were actually working on Thanksgiving.

Well there is no back end of an old Rambler Station Wagon in Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny. I wonder what that is on the screen. Yes, I'm sure it was deliberately vague to throw us off. Remember we are dealing with our own kind here. If we guess right it will be an accomplishment.
B.T.W. I haven't a clue what movie they have picked and this one screen shot on the site doesn't help me at all.
