Hmm, this will be interesting to say the least.

Yes, yes! This is GOOD... what we faithful fans have been waiting for all these dark years. I was just beginning to think the Film Crew was as close as we were going to get to THE SHOW!
But, I wish someone could sort this out a bit more. Are we really looking at three separate "shows?" One from Jim, one from Joel, and, of course, the already established Film Crew? What brought all this on? I can't help but think it was the success of Mike's efforts.
I'll say this about the Film Crew: they BELIEVED. They never really gave up. Saint Kevin from the beginning, Saint Mike, and Sir Bill (who did a wonderful job of replacing the irreplaceable Trace). All the rest, except Jim, Mary Jo and Paul abandoned the project. They all wanted to move onto different projects. Well, guess what? All those projects proved to wither in the shadow of THE GREATEST SHOW EVER BROADCAST.
Well, I wish them all good fortune and good luck. I expect those who come closest to the original concept will have the most success. Take the Film Crew for example. Wonderful riffing, but I miss being in the theater with those guys, and they need much more creative host segments. The host segments were what defined the character of the players. My guess is that they will probably figure that out at some point.
But kudos to them all, and welcome back!

I think the days of MST3K-style host segments are over. Not that it's any big deal.

I'm sure they will do something, but i wouldn't get my hopes up for 1) as many or 2) as intricate. But what do I know.

I can get older and fatter, but I didn't especially like watching my favorite characters change. For instance the cameos they did in Soultaker... It was nice of them to visit that way, but it was also a little unnerving to me. (I'm sensitive!)

This is from a little article at sfist.com about Cinematic Titanic: Currently in the dreaded post-limbo area known as preproduction, you can sign up newsletter to get to get up-to-the-second info on it. But it seems that they've already got "the rights to 12 movies, and will be releasing one a month starting in December for DVD purchase or download," or so we hear.If it's accurate it's great news for those of us that want to purchase DVDs instead of make them. Here's the rest if you want it, but there isn't much more sfist.com/2007/10/31/cinematic_titan.php

In all likelihood, they'll be profoundly "corny" and largely unfunny. Please allow me to point in the direction of The Film Crew, for further point-making. It worked for MST3K, but it's hard to make lightning strike twice.

Very interesting. So with this they have something of the original MST3K and with RiffTrax and The Film Crew, you have the latter incarnation (my preference). Hopefully something for everyone.

I doubt it would be as morbid as that.

I get the image of some producer expecting his movie to be "unsinkable" (or at least successful) at the box office, but it turns out to be this horrible disaster of titanic proportions instead. As in, "a colossal loser of a movie, despite all good intentions".

[/i] If it's accurate it's great news for those of us that want to purchase DVDs instead of make them. [/quote] I really hope so. I'm pretty sure my computer has a DVD burner, but I'd much rather have them do all the work. Plus I'm all about aesthetically-pleasing packaging/cover-art.
