so is the premise going to be that joel is on the sinking Titanic and forced to watch bad movies? Dave I thought it would be either they're on a ship that runs on bad movies or they're steering the ship through a bad movie. Knowing Joel the concept may evolve as it goes on.

And Mary Jo as Molly Brown! ; ) Dave She's got the attitude for it. I can just imagine Mary Jo commandeering a boatload of navy officers at gunpoint.

This is from a little article at sfist.com about Cinematic Titanic: Currently in the dreaded post-limbo area known as preproduction, you can sign up newsletter to get to get up-to-the-second info on it. But it seems that they've already got "the rights to 12 movies, and will be releasing one a month starting in December for DVD purchase or download," or so we hear.If it's accurate it's great news for those of us that want to purchase DVDs instead of make them. Here's the rest if you want it, but there isn't much more sfist.com/2007/10/31/cinematic_titan.phpI'm glad they are also putting them up as downloads. Seeing on how ordering the DVD's from The States would cost me a pretty penny, and also because I completely pirated all of MST3K and I would like to actually pay for something for a change.

So who exactly is going to be doing the riffing and the writing? Because one thing that made MST great is the chemistry between certain cast members. Joel and Trace are fine obviously, Frank did a good job with Trace in one segment. Mary Jo though wasn't that great in Quest of the Delta Knights, granted she was with Kevin and Bill, so it might not matter. Josh didn't have the same great chemistry as Kevin did, because of his voice being relaxed like Joel's. I wonder how well they'll mesh in the theater.

Mary Jo did good in Rifftrax's Glitter. She was with Mike on that one. I think all 5 will be doing the riffing, as said in one of the quotes, a sillouette(sp?) will be used similar to how it looks on the Cinematic Titantic logo. That logo contains 5 people on it. I assume it will be 5 riffers at once.

One question I have(and I don't know if someone else has broached this), but wasn't the reason Josh left the show is that he didn't like the scripted riffs, that he preferred the improved ones from the KTMA season? Does this mean he won't be in the theater to watch, or will they go live and just riff off the top of their heads?

That's what I heard. I don't even consider Josh a real part of MST, having left so early. Still, he must be a good guy to be friends with everyone this long. He deserves a chance at this.

He worked with Trace on AFHV, I think he just got a change to do something else than write jokes for Bob Saget (that's a joke) and took it like anyone would.

If what we've heard about the scaffolding down the sides is true, I could see some kind of setup where there are 6 or so spots up and down the sides, with people coming in and out as the movie plays. Sort of a Shadowrama meets Laugh In.
BTW, I know I'm not alone in thinking Josh was a GREAT Servo, and I always thought he had great chemistry with Joel. He would get him to crack up regularly, and he was very good at improvising with the movie and with the characters.
