So did anyone else feel like each page of that interview ended like Monster A Go Go? There Joel would be, in the middle of a beautifully dense bit of MST history, and BLAM next page /new topic / end of article!

Awesome to read, but it was like three half interviews each disconnected from the other and none finished. Zardoz is an interesting name drop. I'm so anxious to see how this all comes together! He mentioned a distributor so it would seem there is going to be something tangible unlike Rifftrax.

Can't wait for the product to start rollin'.

Yeah, looking back at it a second time, I wish they'd done the interview a bit more properly. Joel definitely seemed in the mood to talk! And it ends just as abruptly and randomly as Monster A Go-Go did, too. At least there was a photo and a few nice nuggets.
I like the fact that it's called Cinematic Titanic because it got the Trace Chortle Of Approval.

What I'm suggesting is when the guy went to write it up, he was probably limited by space and time; so he may have just put in what he thought was pertinent.

Yeah, when I got to the third page, I read through it all and expected there to be a fourth to finish it up, but surprise! It was the end.

Still nice to hear from Joel. Good to know he's been busy and that his kids have some great toys out in the garden.

Nice article. It's great to hear Joel actually talk about MST3K after all these years of him seeming to be done and done with it.
I like his comment about not hating the movies. I almost think this was maybe a hint of commentary on where MST3K went after he was gone. I know a lot of people on here agree that MST3K got a LOT harsher towards the movies later in the series. Some people liked it better, but I always liked the way Joel and the Bot's of season 0-4 riffed movies.
I also think we saw the secret to how this all came about. If you've read the newer interviews with Trace and Frank, you can see a nostalgic slant to there interviews--Frank went as far as to say it was a golden time in his life. And now here's Joel saying, "Quite simply it was the greatest job ever."

Provided he was serious, it's good to hear that Joel makes money off the DVDs. I would've been shocked to officially find out that he didn't. If anyone deserves that residuals check, it's Joel. (All the Brains do, of course, but Joel's the fricking creator, for heaven's sake.)

Posted by Hugh Beaumont on Today at 3:44 Given that he had more to sign away than the rest of the writers, and that he's previously stated that he got a cut of the shows from after he left ( www.avclub.com/content/node/23008), it's not surprising that he also gets a cut from the DVDs. I recall seeing a link somewhere on these boards explaining how it was Jim ended up with the control he has now, but can't find it now.
