Well, I don't see Joel's part of the update as just being 'here's Josh!'. There was a quick aside about EZ Takes' sales to probably help explain the lengthy delivery time, and he was talking about doing promotion, too.
Heck, I wonder how flooded that e-mail he posted is with requests to do interviews and reviews from fans now!

I just used that link to email their promo guy Josh. I was going to post it here, but a new thread may be in order.

They wrote the MST theme at a Denny's? What? They couldn't afford IHOP or Perkins?

BUT, I'm disapointed with the lack of (as Jelvis puts it) a Gilliganesque premise to explain. That and the fact that there were no out-of-theater clips in the demo has me thinking the plot/premise is going to be razor thin. Which is a real shame--I loved the wacky/garagey/low-budget/rainy-saturday-afternoon premise of MST3K--I honestly think it's what gave it its charm and a big reason why it became a cult classic and not just a couple of guys making fun of a movie. Anywoo, if my hunches are true, my excitement of CT has dropped just a couple of points (but just a couple!). I know what you're saying, and I partway agree an partway disagree. Certainly MST3k needed a story to make it so much more than just commentary, but now that that's already in place, I feel much less need for these spinoff projects to have one. It's kind of like, we already know who they are, and we already had the whole story throught MST3k. We don't need them to pretend to be characters so much anymore - they've already proved that they are more than just random people talking over movies and such. Nothing wrong with having a plot, but I just don't see it as necessary to CT. Much like rifftrax, I think the riffing can be its own end rather than putting a story together around it.

I love that theme song. I swear I have heard it before though, on a TV show or SOMETHING! No doubt you're thinking of this: Snazzy Theme Music

I love that theme song. I swear I have heard it before though, on a TV show or SOMETHING! Similar in tone to the old Peter Gunn theme (you may know it from the Blues Brothers). youtube linkie: www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpwTsdIi5jMAlso reminds me of the theme from the Rik Mayall / Ade Edmonson comedy 'Bottom'. Actully, there's a silhouette gag during the end titles of this show - maybe CT could visualise some gags similarly? Linkie: www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxcnH4bVE30BTW: How might one go about making an mp3 of the CT them for ringtone use? C.

The "Josh" link didn't work...two seconds of silence.
...and yes, the theme is very Peter Gunnish.

Alright !
What's with the "38%" of respondents coming up with all this "Joel didn't really say anything and it wasn't all that funny , plus he's not comfy with modern technology" ??
His portion of the post was packed w/ info , funny in his patented folksy way ( don't `cha know ) and it's good to have someone who comes off more like , I dunno' , Mark Twain or Will Rogers when everyone else is doing Perez Hilton !!
Hey, you watch that many goofy movies going back that far and see if it doesn't . . . . oh wait , we all have , haven't we ?
but still . . .

Personally, I'm in the mindset that any post from Joel is funny and entertaining in it's own right, but it doesn't mean I can't poke fun at him. I don't really care if he's not savy with the interwebs or whatever, I think it's kinda endearing.

Yeah, there was some info there. I was more referring to his posts on a whole. And I would never argue with that fact that Joel is chronically cool. Just watch his musical number in Secret Agent Super Dragon--baby, baby, baby. Man, you are out there!
