How about an HTML link thing that can be put on blogs and myspace and the likes. The Super Furry Animals and Malcolm Middleton did it recently so fans could offer a brilliant looking direct link to their websites. Id love to put a Cintit picture link, and a Rifftrax one for that matter, on my blog thing, not that I've got lots of readers or anything but I'd feel like i was doing my bit. i'm rubbish with all that stuff so offering up the code on their website would be great!

Banner ads should be bought and placed on websites ranging from the SCI FI Channel, to AICN, to Suicide Girls.

I'll add a line to my IGN signature.
Boy, the difference between this site and that site, especially the GTA board, is like walking between a junior high school cafeteria and Westminster Abbey.
That's why I care enough to ask if I offended someone. I like you people.

Another freebie riff that I thought would be neat, is since we have Joel/Trace/Josh back in the same room, is the final two chapters of Commando Cody. That's a great idea.

Also, for you hip cool people with a myspace page, why not post a bulletin to all your friends? Here is what I posted, for your cut and paste ease :
From the creators of MST3K = "Cinematic Titanic"
Joel Hodgson and the original creators of TV's "Mystery Science Theater 3000" are back with a new show, direct to DVD!
Their first movie is 1971's "Brain of Blood" (re-named "The Oozing Skull") a great cheesy movie!
<A HREF="http://www.cinematictitanic.com/PromoBIG.mov"> Click here to check out the promo trailer!</A>
<A HREF="http://cinematictitanic.com/wpmu/"> Or click here to visit the Cinematic Titanic website!</A>
The direct to DVD cost is $15. Downloadable/burnable copies of their future movies will also be available soon.

Cartoon Dump does, so I'm sure one for CT is not out of the realm of possibility.

I favorited it already and 7 of the 847 views were referred from my website. Almost as many as from fark. Yeah, you're right, big deal. Also, maybe it's because I'm no marketing guru and nobody wants to be my friend, but I feel like I get a very low return on my investment of time promoting my site on myspace. Anyway, I still think the best promotion would be producing a couple of extra shorts and host segments and posting them on YouTube or MySpace. Anywhere, but YouTube, MySpace, or one of the very high profile video services (and even then, compared to the other two), would be a waste. Posting it on their own website would be a complete waste as anyone visiting would likely have already made up their mind on whether they're buying a CT or not. YouTube is very high profile. Hell, Brookers gets seven million hits for her dumb poopie, Joel could get eighty billion-cachillion if that's how it rolls over there. I haven't studied the full pros and cons of uploading to multiple video sites, but my impression is that even without using any of the tools to do it, once you've made the video, it's a fairly easy way to reach a wider market (my quick gogling suggest youtube + myspace is at most 65% of the online video market, maybe less. Why not spend a little extra time to target niche sites like funnyordie and colleghumor where they can be a bigger fish in a smaller pond?) I'd also say having the video on their site serves a few purposes: (a) I'm not convinced everyone who visits is sold on buying already. I'd think they'd get a fair amount of visitors on the fence over the price or who just got the news because they frequent the wrong boards. (b) It gives fans linking to it another reason to link to them where they can give "buy it" and links to whatever else they have to engage you much more prominence than they could on any video sharing site (c) it lets them control the quality of the video. (Of course, it did have the big con that it didn't play in my version of quicktime - but there are free/cheap solutions to host videos that will play more reliably.) Another thing they need to do is fix their search engine optimization. They're not in the first few pages for "Cinematic Titanic" on google! I really don't understand how that happened. Of course, differentiating legitimate SEO from well intentioned dopes, outright con-artists and dark magicians can be tough. Although it's not exactly like people searching for cinematic titanic won't find them, and I'm not sure what search terms they could hope to dominate that would help people discover them.

I can't claim authorship of "Cinetit", but I'm sure I heard it here first. If its really offensive to anyone, we should discuss it. Moderators? I'm pretty sure that I was the one who first used "CineTit." Either way, I came up with it on my own. Admittedly, I still shorten it to "CT" when I type, simply because it's easier. I don't think the series needs an "official" abbreviation, though. Even "MST3K," while the most common abbreviation, is not used by absolutely everybody. Half of the people don't even say or spell "MSTies" right. As for offensiveness, if it's a "grey area" and it's not in the word filters, then it's probably allowed. At least it sounds better than "Titans".

Your confession is duly noted, Hugh. I shall endeavor to capitalize the first "T" in the future.

Anyway, I still think the best promotion would be producing a couple of extra shorts and host segments and posting them on YouTube or MySpace. There's a "reunion" riff of the fan film "Star Wait" with Joel, Trace, and Josh doing some improv riffing. Unfortunately, it's terrible. www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFRssMYPeS8Not the true CT format, granted, which would certainly help. I'd definitely encourage the crew to get back into the studio ASAP, come up with a few more clips, and prove to everyone that this is a genuine endeavor. Not to sound too whiny, but with the exception of MJ, these are all people who voluntarily walked away from our favorite show. I'd feel a lot more excitement if I were sure they're not going to simply "jump ship*" again. But frankly, i am getting a very "one hit wonder" vibe from the whole thing thus far, regardless of how many films they have "secured" the rights for. *pun intended

Apparently production is away on the second one, so it'll at least be two hits. Maybe the Quiet Riot of riffing! ;D
