Hey Josh! Welcome to the board! thanks! i'm really happy to see all these favorable reviews. as a longtime MST fan, I knew it'd be good, but I didn't know it'd be THIS good. I was really proud to be a (small) part of it. The riffing is top-notch, and Josh really blew me away. He's a funny dude. Might I ask what part? Very cool to have someone involved on the board! (And perhaps you could relay our desires for intros / backstory... cause otherwise it's about as good as we could have every hoped for)

Very good overall but I'm kind of disappointed that no CT member yelled out "Masterblaster!" Maybe they're rusty... Or maybe... heh heh heh... maybe they wanted to... hee hee hee... maybe they just wanted to... GET BEYOND THUNDERDOME!!!!! *falls about laughing*What?! Like I could pass up an opening like that.

I got my copy today and immediately popped it in the DVD and was pleasantly surprised. Going in I was cautiously optimistic about the project, but after just a couple of minutes it had me in stitches. The Steven Hawking bit came out of nowhere and totally floored me , as did Josh's guitar smash. I had to stop watching for a minute because I was laughing so hard.
Only complaints that I have were already mentioned, such as no case for DVD, and no real intro or outro. Other than that I thought it was great.

Right, I have managed to sneak peak about 20 minuets. Just from that, I can say this is WAY better then I could have ever imagined, and I have been very reserved about the whole thing. The comments, so far, have been so reminiscent of the Joel years, which delights me, and everyone is just great! The movie is just perfect! On the downside, I thought the Hawking visit was past forgettable and the first host segment was rather lame. I will NEVER get why vomiting is thought to be funny. (I'll have to remember that I should be laughing my ass off when I am running to the toilet next time,) but at least it was not like Rifftrax's Holiday Greeting. In fact, Rifftrax may have just saved it for me, because CT's segment, although not good, was no where near as stupid as Bill and Mike's chunking/burping distorted liquid over and over! Not funny, boys! But I am straying...so far, the Oozing Skull looks to promise great things. A good indication for what the year may hold for my fellow misties. More to come!

Just got done watching it. My thoughts: Good but not great. Better than Rifftrax (the silohettes help a LOT) but the riffing is a bout on par with a Season 2 MST episode. Now I have a special place in my heart for Season 2 episodes, so that's not some sort of backhanded compliment. I only mean that it's occasionally spotty, has it's share of clunkers, BUT does have some truly priceless moments. I like how the "host segments" were done "in theater", but they were kind of obvious and you knew where they were headed. (i.e. NOWHERE). BUT the Stephen Hawking joke was PRICELESS. For all it's flaws (which will hopefully be ironed out soon), CT is worth it just to have Joel back at the bottom of my screen. I felt a youthful rush of nostolgia when he used his "cranky voice". Mary Jo was spot on and Trace was great too. I was glad to see that Josh's sensibities hadn't changed much and Frank was the bomb. The movie was actually kind of entertaining in a kitchy way (read my review of that here: thevideovacuum.livejournal.com/461802.html) and the gore scenes were top notch for such a cheesy production. Overall I'd give it a solid B/B-.

Wooo! I really liked it. It wasn't "LOVED IT!!!" great, but it was very solid. I did love Josh's song. It was just so surreal, I had to keep reminding myself, yes, they're all really together doing this again. The edits were a bit noticeable though, five silhouettes is hard to mask. Jokes were really good. I was surprised so many thought there were no callbacks to MST though, cause there were a ton. I liked the more up to date references like Mapquest and Google Earth too because again it was just weird to hear it coming from people I associate with way before any of that stuff. And the mad doctor is the guy from The Crawling Hand! I'm stoked for the next installment, that's for sure!

Where is the explanation of premise, and the introduction of the riffers? Sure, we loyal MSTies all know who these people are and why they are riffing, but taken on its own there is nothing given on the episode itself. MST always opened with not only a theme song explaining the premise, but the host introducing himself and the robots. The Film Crew begins with the guys introducing themselves and the premise as well (getting a film to 'commentate' from Mr. Honcho). Cinematic Titanic... the riffers walk into their silhouetted positions and start riffing. I don't even have any better understanding of the time tube from watching the episode. In fact, I would have no idea that the shadowy object at the end of the movie WAS a time tube if I hadn't read about it earlier. I'm also a little disappointed that we never actually see our performers. It's a neat idea to remain in silhouette the whole time, but I think it would be nice if either at the beginning or the end they lit the set so you could see everyone. Maybe they could then explain the premise, introduce themselves, dim the lights and get going...! You nailed it. My thoughts as well. I couldn't have said it any better. Hey, we love you guys! Show yourselves! Aside from that I enjoyed it and laughed a lot. I'll watch it again tomorrow to see if there is anything I have missed.

Got mine today! Great running start for the project. My thoughts: - Most of the riffing was sharp and had lots of laughs, though the clunkers seemed to clunk a little harder than usual. - Snare - The new Shadowrama's an impressive achievement. Going from the torsos of two puppets and one person to the full bodies of five people while actually giving a better view of the screen. - Five riffers never made it too busy and there were a few moments of singing and 'audience' reaction where it gave it a neat crowd feel that none of the other mst3k projects have had. - I do miss them having characters to 'hide' behind. Losing the bots' naiveté hurt. - I noticed Mary Jo seemed to really be trying to give it the 'woman's point of view' a lot. It's nice to have, and certainly cool that they can do lines for the female movie characters without falsetto, but I hope she doesn't overplay it or get pigeonholed. - The vomiting. Well, yes, at least it was only in silhouette and even then no visible ejecta, and featured an obscure (to me) jazz reference, and it also wasn't Frank in fishnets and high heels. But still, kind of juvenile for them. - Was Joel texting? Right after Tracey gets picked up at the airport, he seems to be messing with some sort of gadget. was there a joke around it that I missed? - The host segments were a little short and weak. Much as I'm somebody who bemoaned the (perceived?) decrease in movie related segments in later years, this format seems to make it very difficult for them to do anything but, which is sort of limiting. - In addition to being the press agent, our new member is also the script supervisor. So say the credits. Welcome aboard.

PERFECT! Oh man did I love every second of this! The Hawkin bit floored me! I love the shadowrama (No, I don't need an intro, or an explanation of the premise or even to see them in the flesh. Getting right to it and having them in shadow was fine with me) A pitch perfect release. I am truly giddy and here's my full review... Happy, happy, joy, joy! CT Skull review

Very good overall but I'm kind of disappointed that no CT member yelled out "Masterblaster!" Maybe they're rusty... Or maybe... heh heh heh... maybe they wanted to... hee hee hee... maybe they just wanted to... GET BEYOND THUNDERDOME!!!!! *falls about laughing*What?! Like I could pass up an opening like that. Once the guy started talking, I couldn't stop thinking "Who run Bartertown?" so I guess I couldn't get Beyond Thunderdome. Maybe I should be happy that Mel Gibson didn't get mentioned and just shut up about it. Full review ahead: Warning! Cinamatic Titanic presents The Oozing Skull. Good stuff: Good fast interplay between the commentators, often with their silouettes interacting with the movie or each other. I really enjoyed how the others would react when someone tries to get away with a particularly bad pun or "groaner". Good, deft wordplay that I didn't catch all of in my first viewing and some comments that I still don't understand. Plus, it's fun that both Trace and Josh do voices and they seem to cover the whole movie in stereo. It's kind of neat. Some more good stuff: "How come you never see the bellys of smart people?" "So that's where babies come from." "The car is milking its own death scene." "Any scene starting with "Get your ass over here" will not end well." Some bad stuff: I have no problem with no conceptual introduction. Hey, if you've seen MST3k then you know what they're trying to do. However, I think fart jokes are a little below their level but maybe their level has gone down a bit in their "old age". Easy jokes for older folks but it doesn't mean I think it's funny. Also, puns are like cheese. Or do I mean cheesy? Well, anyway, some are ok but some just stink, especially if you have too many of the really ripe ones. "Skullquest"? "hempishere"? Not some of the good ones. Bottomline: Worth the money {it's nice to know that they're getting the lion's share of the movie price}. Compared to MST, the riffing is all over the place, from season 1's "what are we doing here watching this, I feel so uncomfortable" to season 4's "this is so bad, it's kind of fun" to season 8's "this is so bad, it's hurting me so I'll hurt it right back." But maybe it's just me.

I just finished watching it and all the hype is totally justified. My wife and I laughed our collective asses off through the whole movie. I agree with the other comments that the premise could have used a little set up at the start of the program, but other than that it was pure comedic bliss.
As far as I’m concerned this is the spiritual successor to MST3K. I would say I laughed as much during this as I would a season 3 episode if that’s any indication of its quality. The fact that this was their maiden voyage has me giddy; I think they’re only going to get better in future episodes as the cast warms up.
Really, I hope this makes a zillion dollars for everyone involved and they keep making episodes forever, even if they have to transplant some brains. This is what we’ve been waiting for since 1013.
Joel – “We’re back!”
You said it friend.

Yeah the vomiting was really gross. Way grosser than the brains and red paint. I think Joel was just checking his script. He seemed to be looking down and behind a lot, which reminded me of his days on MST. I should add that the shadowrama effect was much less invasive than I thought it would be based on the preview. It really opened the screen up instead though.
