I watched it un-riffed this past weekend, and two things I noted:
1) I thought it was good up until they introduced the new, non-infected characters. Then the film took a severe nose dive.
2) I noticed quite a bit of dead air in the movie and yes, the majority of scenes are of a man and his dog. I'm real curious as to what direction RiffTrax will go with this one...

I thought I posted this already, but I guess I didn't. I actually liked the plot of the movie, and the setting was pretty good. The characters were OK; not great, but didn't ruin it for me.
*SPOILER BELOW*
What ruined it were the zombie/monster guys. I mean the first shot that you really see of them is very cool. Will Smith's character (cant remember the name) creeps into a dark building to find his dog, and eventually his flashlight illuminates a group of infected people in a huddle, continuously convulsing/shuddering in a super creepy way. Awesome. They even look like people in this shot as I recall (twisted inhuman people, but people nonetheless). But as the movie progresses, the shots of these guys become less and less plausible. They become super-fakey CGI. They do cheesy things like the enormous gaping-jaw roar first made famous by the monsters in Mummy 1 and Mummy 2. They lost any scare factor and just became cheesy. It's sad for a movie to have poor effects in the current generation, especially for a blockbuster. Maybe I'm alone in this, but the zombie guys just ruined an otherwise decent movie (although I thought the ending was pretty weak too, but that's more understandable - it's always hard to come up with an ending for post-apocalyptic movies).

I learned my lesson with "Cloverfield." I'm gonna wait until the Rifftrax comes out to view this one. I find most of the Rifftrax movies are only bearable to watch once through. More than that and I suffer nerve damage.

That was exactly my big problem with the film. I still had a good time and would call it a fun movie, I would have been much happier with a different approach.

I kinda liked this movie, though I'm kinda biased as this story is one that I enjoy pretty much any incarnation of. (same goes for "A Christmas Carol) But there's one scene in particular that I can imagine the Riffers having a field day with. (it involves Will Smith wandering around with a flashlight in a completely dark building for about 10 minutes straight, with pretty much zero payoff.)

I watched this last night and had a laugh attack like I've never had with Rifftrax. Most of the Rifftrax that have come out recently are good for a few laughs, a lot of chuckles but rarely an all out belly laugh. Well this one took me by surprise.
When Kevin remarked that Will Smith's horrible mugging and 'burbling' "Please talk to meeee." at the female manikin in the video store reminded him "of every first date that he'd ever been on," I completely lost it! I laughed so hard and so long that I thought I was going to have a heart attack.! This is the reason I buy the 'Trax!

I didn't mind "I Am Legend" as a movie itself (though, again, it suffers from a lot of horror movie clichés, though not as much as Cloverfield did), but then, I really like the original Vincent Price/Lippert version, so that may say something of my taste.
Going to watch the Riff version this weekend. Looking forward to it!
