Could be funny but the pace of the movie could work against them.

It has been years since I have seen this movie, but still remember it well. This looks like a good one.

I enjoy this film, but it's probably fairly riffable in my opinion.

I like this choice. Although I enjoyed the film I always thought it was a bit overrated and definitely worthy of a riffing.

:shudder: I swore M. Night Shyamalon movies off for life after Signs insulted my intelegence to the point that I gave my television screen the finger and said "**** you."
I'll skip this one. I have no desire to watch this one again either.

"I see dead people!"
Sixth Sense ... might make a good Rifftrax.
By the way, Torgo, I've been meaning to ask you, why do you consider Signs such a bad movie? I don't remember much about it and it's not that I want to see the movie right away or anything (plus, The Village was a total disaster in my eyes), but could you please explain what's the deal with this film or do you have a review of it posted somewhere?

I haven't seen it since it came out, so a lot of details probably got fuzzy, but the acting and script annoyed me to no end. It was a pretty good concept ruined by shoddy execution and an insulting ending (alien invaders...with an alergic reaction to water...invade a planet that's 70% covered with water...right, M. Night, screw you).
But then again, I wasn't impressed with Shyamalon's offererings pre-Signs either, as both Sixth Sense and Unbreakable underwhelmed me. Then the Village came out, and I just didn't care so I didn't bother. I keep hearing everybody say how Village, Lady in the Water, and Happenning completly sucked, but I can't help but wonder if Signs was good Shyamalon...I can't imagine what his bad movies must be like.

This would be an interesting discussion in the movie subforum. To me, Signs is a really mixed-bag. In terms of atmosphere, I think it's great - it's one of the two or three films I've ever seen that legitimately scares me. I haven't seen it in a while, but I think that this part of the execution and direction being pretty good.
On the other hand, it's hugely flawed, particularly in its ending. It almost seems like he wanted to have this big statement about faith, and have plenty of atmosphere in the film, but then he realized that he'd have to wrap it up somehow. It's like he just used the first idea that came to mind to tie everything together, without particularly caring whether it made sense or not.
If I just ignore the plot's resolution, and just treat the aliens as a random plot device to create tension, I think most of the film before the ending works well.

I liked Signs. The Ailens were there to harvest humans, not invade the planet. They were planning on being there for a short amount of time, getting some humans for God knows what, and leaving. The ones we saw at the beginning were the scouts.
Of course, a rainstorm could throw off their whole plan...
