Well, I suppose it's the fact that we all think our musical tastes to be unpopular when, in reality, they really aren't that unpopular. Now, as for your tastes, I really don't know what to say because, well, they really are unpopular. Servo I'm gonna go out on a limb here and risk pissing some people off and say my musical tastes are less "radio oriented" than a lot of you guys. I mean Rush, Chicago. Journey, Led Zepplin, they got a lot of radio play in their day and still a lot on classic rock radio. Not a lot of you guys are familiar with Marshal Crenshaw or T Bone Burnett, let alone Warren Zevon or Richard Thompson. If I sound a little smug and snobbish, well I am the Phantom.

You're just being sarcastic! No but I've noticed the thing about a lot these groups is not that they're unpopular, it's just no one wants to admit they like it. Even though a lot of people still like it, they'd rather keep it to themselves...uh except for here in this thread that is. yeah.

You won't believe this, pe, but I love Crenshaw and T-Bone. I think Zevon's a little overrated (not by the general populace, but by the friends I have who love him). Add to this list Bruce C0ckburn and Tom Waits. Awesome. As for grossly underrated and/or overlooked artists that I love, in the ligher acoustic-y vein: Over the Rhine and Vigilantes of Love. In the rock & roll vein: Dada and King's X.#nosmileys

OK you're excused from the radio oriented comment. You should exclude me as well, because I never listen to the radio. I burn all my songs to mix CD's that I make. I recently started listening to some different music because Bad Religion, while they are really good at what they do, got tiring because it's so depressing.

Wow did they turn into a sucky band in the later years though.... Seriously! What the hell happened? They went from Rock to Easy Listening....?! Oh, and that brings me to my next point. What happened to popular music? I'm forced to listen to "99 ROCK" at the hangar I work at, and I hear these dumb songs from Evanescence, Trapt, and Nickelback over and over again. They are all about the same thing: Oh I hate myself and my life, even though I have a popular band and make lots of money It's just a selling point for the music, if you ask me. I'll add more later, I gotta get to work.

arrrhg! I'm ashamed to admit it, but I like that new song by Brittany Spears, Toxic, I swear I didn't know it was her's when i heard it. why why? I've been against Brittany Spears sence she started! why did she have to put out a song that I like? Do not worry, Mary T Robot, you are not alone. The Surf riff in between verses is kinda cool.

Watching a Brittany Spears' music video is like watching porn- only the music sucks. you mean the porn music sucks? or the brittany music sucks? you'd be right on both points, I normally hate both. Canta de Loca is my favorite artist in spanish, (this had nothing to do with brittany spears, I'm just listening to their CD right now)

"Toxic"? AAAAAAAAGHHHH!!!! Sorry. It's just that song makes me feel ill, angry and pissed off! Whenever I hear that song, my mood is ruined! Even the "Hideous Control Now" song from "Pod People" is Beatles-quality compared to Britney Spears' "Toxic"!
