I've dabbled in tattooing for a few years now. It all started with my ex who had done some time so my first tattoo machine was your standard Walkman motor, bic pen shaft and sharpened guitar strings. Since I left in... uh, quite a hurry I never got pictures of all my work from that period. When I moved to Phoenix, a gift I gave myself was a full rotary tattoo kit. For now, I'm getting back on my feet by tatting my brother in law, Kevin (my human sketch pad). I tend to be my own worst critic when it comes to my artwork, but I've never been happier (creative-wise) than when I tattoo. These are pictures from my first tattoo session in two years! Kevin makes knives for commission as a hobby (and might I add his anvil and blacksmithing equipment is RIGHT outside my window ) ... so this was his request... (The hammer is some special blacksmithing hammer ... my least favorite section of the tattoo since I'm unfamiliar with the tool... Kevin says it looks right though.) This is my friend's brother, Phil's very first tattoo! I was very honored to do it. I have a new one which I completed this weekend on Kevin but I'm waiting for my sis to get some better pictures. I'll post them by this weekend hopefully. Just wanted to share! ;D

Great Tats. You are quite the artist! If I'd ever get a tatoo, I'd look you up.

The shading, especially on that anvil, blows my mind. It comes right off his skin. You're good.

Yeah, he's gotta slap it back on there every now and then. Thank you! He (Kevin) was picking me up tattoo supplies the other day when a guy in line was noticing my work on him. The guy owns a tattoo shop here in Phoenix and passed along his card along with an invite to work in his shop! If I could get an apprenticeship, that would be best. I feel a little limited in what I can do at the moment, but with someone to work under, I'd love to make a second career out of it.

When I lived at the Hollywood Park Motel (Yes, it's as bad as it sounds) the guy that made up the rooms did tatoos with a motor & guitar strings, too. Of course I never got one. I'm just not a "Tat" kinda guy, I guess...
I did pierce myself once, though. Stepped on a piece of lumber that had a nail in it! Then I got pierced by a doctor - Tetnus shot.
Edit: Neat Anvil, by the way. I feel it wants to fall on somebody's head, just like in the cartoons.
