It's coming out in another week and while I know they usually don't do comedies, it might be cute to hear Bill riff on his own story.

Yeah the no comedy rule would probably kill it for them. i think it would be hilarious though. Even if the whole track was nothing but variations of "that's not funny" it would be funny because you know Mike and Kevin would mercilessly harp on Bill!

Or make it more of a commentary by Bill like the missing writer's commentary from the DVD.

I would love a track that had some interesting commentary but also made fun of the movie. I don't know if Bill was involved enough to do a full commentary track, but I'm sure he would have interesting stuff to talk about. Combining that with making fun of it would be pretty sweet.

Did Bill ever speak out about this movie? I just RedBoxed it (mostly because of him) and I would love to read his reaction on the final product.
Even better a special RiffTrax Presents where he can possibly rant nonstop for about 90 minutes (or possibly defend his work, either or). As we all know, Angry Bill is funny Bill (Suggestion Box for Japan anyone?).

That was a very interesting read. I wonder if he's watched the movie since writing it and what his thoughts are.
Having just finished watching it 10 minutes ago, while it's poorly directed and some of the gags aren't well executed, I thought it was fun. For the most part, it carried itself on the shoulders of Eddie Murphy doing same damn good physical work and exceptional line delivery, but once or twice there was a gag that I thought had a glimmer of Bill inside of it. Dave's original choice of name, for example, gave me a hearty laugh.
I agree with a lot of Bill's sentiments in his post though. The title change from Starship Dave to Meet Dave made the movie feel blander in it's advertising. I remember seeing a poster with Mini-Eddie Murphy sticking his head out of Mecha-Eddie Murphy's ear and saying to myself "What the hell is that supposed to be?" It wasn't until later that I found out it was Bill's movie that I had heard about, yet never looked into. Had the title retained "Starship," not only might have that poster been less akward, but I probably would have made the connection a lot sooner from my fuzzy memory.
I wonder just how many films out there have a Brain credited to them. I know Joel co-wrote that old direct to video sequel Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves, but don't know much beyond that.

I'm really out of the loop. Did anything ever come of the briefly-mentioned-but-possible riff/commentary hybrid of this movie by Bill and/or Bill+Mike/Kevin. Or has anything new been mentioned? This whole topic is kinda interesting considering the dynamics involved, would love to hear more.

Didn't Kevin give an interview with the Jawbone folks saying a RiffTrax of the movie wouldn't happen because it would be too mean to Bill? I think that's sweet of Kevin, though Bill seems to be taking the whole thing in good stride. I think it would be a very interesting RiffTrax, and as we're all fans of Bill, it would probably sell fairly well, too. I liked the movie. It was pretty silly at parts and certainly not a prize-winner, but it made me laugh. Yes, I am a goofball.

Bill riffs on "Meet Dave" himself from time to time, though (during other Rifftraxes). The harshest is probably "That was scarier than 'Meet Dave's' opening weekend box-office!
