Don't know about this one. Mind you I haven't been able to see any Rifftrax lately thanks to a lack of PAL versions but I think I might be shifting into the camp that's disappointed with all the blockbusters they're doing. Surely it couldn't hurt to mix it up a bit?

Surely it couldn't hurt to mix it up a bit? Sorry, but Bill C. has flatly stated that riffs of the brand new blockbuster crap sell waaaay better than the classic cheese. Nobody here at the MST3K board is much pleased with that, but you gotta make a living. I don't know why they are restricting the PAL format. Seems pretty stupid to lock out a lot of customers in the U.K. and elsewhere.

I don't doubt the fact that they sell better but surely the older cheesy movies, be they MST3K style fodder or 80's guff like Roadhouse, turn some sort of profit too. I love Rifftrax but the lack of variation's nagging slightly, that's all.

You know, I probably won't watch this one unless there's near-unanimous agreement that it's a classic. It's not that it offends me that they're making fun of this movie, it's just that I enjoy the movie so much on its own (and that the overall feel is so serious) that I just have no interest in hearing them riff it.

My feeling is that the severe seriousness makes it perfect for riffing. I really love the movie, but at the end of the day it's a bunch of grown men in goofy costumes talking in funny voices.

I will absolutely watch this. I love the movie, but the RiffTrax commentaries are always entertaining. I don't seem to have a problem watching the movie again after I've heard the RiffTrax and still enjoy it.

Yikes... Sorry, this is a skipper for me. Do they really have to be so jaded about everything Hollywood? Reading the description on the RT site, it's like they're just putting down everyone who liked the movie. It's this attitude that continues to put me off RT.

But the current releases are not always available at the same time in New Zealand, (where bathtub, our PAL guy lives), as they are in America. He's been trying to get IJ4 for a long time from his rental queue, The Happening is not out yet and X-Men 2 is done, and it should be up soon. Dark Knight comes out down there maybe a day later than it does here, so it shouldn't be as big a delay. But with the PAL issue, we either just do the conversion (which usually works) ourselves and risk that there are scenes cut or added, or we wait for confirmation from Nigel. We prefer to have him make sure they will work before putting them out there to save people the frustration.

My feeling is that the severe seriousness makes it perfect for riffing. I really love the movie, but at the end of the day it's a bunch of grown men in goofy costumes talking in funny voices. *Does Kevin Murphy voice* It's is not, Batman is real and if it wasn't for him the bad clown man would have destroyed the city and he's my friend and he's really, really cool and stuff and -choke- *MJ runs down the hall sobbing* I must say that I'll of course take a listen and have no problem with them riffing it. But I think it might be like Casino Royale, a movie I love so much that even if it's riffed well it probably wont get more than a listen or 2 for the review. The advantage of riffing on movies I hate, ala the hilarious Happening, is that I have no desire what so ever to see the movie on its own. The only time I'd wanna see it is with the 'trax.
