I don't know if you'd call it a Christmas classic, but Gremlins would provide a lot of fodder. Relatively available for cheap and through Netflix, as well.

Ice Cream Bunny! Ice Cream Bunny! Hmmm. I wonder if Blue Raja, Hellcat and Skyronitor could help me with this? I can't speak for the others, but this is definitely a mission that interests me. Scares me, also. ;D I'm quite honored by your nomination! (I'm also quite surprised you're able to take this movie, Dr. Z - I coulda sworn you said you couldn't enjoy riffs if the movie was too horrible!) Skyroniter knows many resources that might just allow him to get some sort of a decent DVD of this movie. Furthermore, this movie has recently been fully added to Youtube in sections. My main concern with riffing this, however, is how you'd release it - syncing with a bootleg DVD, or over an admittedly grainy Youtube-quality movie? Plus, how do you advertise a riff for something that TECHNICALLY isn't legal to obtain yet (through digital means, anyway)? Also, as much as I'd love to tackle this riff in the near future somehow, our writing process is a slow methodical one, and as you probably know, we're currently in the middle of writing Jaws: The Revenge. It's been a long time coming, and still has a bit of a ways to go. That said - since writing is our slowest process of the riff-making, perhaps we could approach a riff of this in a Riff Raff Theater way? Namely, have all interested members of this board HELP us write the riff script? It might be a fun project for the riffing-initiated to try! There's a handy Excel Spreadsheet format we and many others use to do just that. Besides - we might NEED each other's help to get through this movie in one mental piece. Any further input or suggestions anyone might have on this? Anyone else think the group-writing thing is a good idea?

This is a very intriguing idea. I'm thrilled that Doctor Z thought of us. I'm always up for riffing, so if my fellow agents are agreeable, and if I can get my hands on a DVD, then count me in. ;D
I like Raja's idea of a group riff, too. Sort of a board project. Riff Raff Theater does it very well, so they're a good model to emulate. And if this movie is truly as bad as the rumors say, then a few extra hands might be very helpful. There's something about a bad movie that kind of kills one's spirit, so spreading the pain around might make it easier to get done.

I think this is a cool idea and if Mr. DeMille (Raja) is up for heading this thing I'll gladly mail copies of the movie to anyone willing to participate in writing the riffs.

That could be a ton of fun - I still think about trying to do a commentary for a short or film, but I just never get around to it on my own. I also have the DVD already (if I can find it). (I'm also quite surprised you're able to take this movie, Dr. Z - I coulda sworn you said you couldn't enjoy riffs if the movie was too horrible!) This movie transcends "horrible." It no longer exists on a plane that can be measured by humanity's quality standards, and therefore statements applying to normal films cannot apply.

Hmmm, I like the response. I'd be quite happy to head such a project, but only if we have enough OTHERS that would be willing to help write the riffs. Otherwise, you know, it could take a while. I really like the idea of a board-wide project. We've got quite a few funny people on here, so I know the senses of humor are there. Even if some people just wanna submit a small handful of jokes (or even one!), every bit helps. Plus, the more the merrier type of deal. So I guess what I'm saying is - who would HYPOTHETICALLY be willing to help write this thing? If we get enough people wanting to help out, I don't see why we can't give it a shot! We might can even politely ask a mod to send out a bulletin to everyone (or certain people, whichever) informing them of our little project's open call. Or maybe just sticky a thread in the iRiffs sub-forum or something, I dunno. I can provide whoever wants it with a link to the spreadsheet we'll be using, so don't let that part worry you. It's a real simple layout that works well: (Time joke is said)-------(Events/dialogue in movie leading up to joke)-------(THE JOKE ITSELF) Captain Hygiene and Doctor Z seem to have a bit of enthusiasm for writing SOMETHING for this, and I know we 3 agents will do our part. Again, as long as we've got people willing to help, and I don't have a hard "due date" to work with (I'm busy enough as is), I'd love to do this. Whaddya say? ;D ******************************* By the way, to keep this on topic, I concur with this statement here: But I stand by Batman Returns. I was hoping for this one before Dark Knight but meh, whatyagonnado? And speaking of Michael Keaton, the PG "Jack Frost" might just be asking for a riffing. I'd be curious to see that one. And, to a lesser degree, I also agree with the choice of "Gremlins." Just as long as the movie isn't attacked too much, 'cuz I do have a soft spot for this one.

Groupie and I will try it. I haven't told her yet, though. And from what I remember reading about the 2007 meet-up you should try to get Truck Farmer.

I'm still trying to forget that I ever watched it. But I'd like to help even if only a small bit.

and I don't have a hard "due date" to work with (I'm busy enough as is) This is me. Let me know if you start something, like I said I'd love to be involved. I'm busy enough too, but if we have something vaguely organized going on, that might be enough to get me to move.

Sorry I haven't responded in a while. But yes, I'd like to be involved in the Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny project.

Here's the thread I've just made for the "Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny" Forum-wide riffing project, in the iRiffs sub-forum. So now we can let this thread get back on topic. ;D
