I haven't seen the show either, but I am very familiar with his low budget, shoot-em-up movie resume. I'd like to see some DVD interview specials with him.

I caught the show when it ran on the Nostalgia channel back in the late 90's. Robert Ginty was only on the first season of the show, the season that ran on CBS in 1978. Several years later, Showtime revived the series with most of the original cast except Ginty after the original reruns got regular play on PBS.
My beef with calling Ginty "The Paper Chase" guy always was that to me "The Paper Chase Guy" was James Stephens, the bespectacled curly haired blonde dude who didn't have much of a big career after that show's revival ended. (He was a regular on the "Father Dowling Mysteries", and had one of the all-time great "special guest star" turns as a demented Son of Sam like killer on the Joe Don Baker classic, "Eishied".) Ginty played second banana to Stephens, and of course, John Houseman.
The show itself was actually very good. But it didn't have Cheryl Ladd running around in a bikini, nor Claude Aikens chasing Greg Evigan, so I didn't watch its first run.

I watched it when it was on Showtime. I distinctly remember seeing Ginty on the first season of it when it was on said channel. Never saw it on PBS. I didn't think it was on as early as 1978. I used to love this show. It certianly didn't dumb anything down. It will be interesting to see how it holds up, if I would still like it. I'd hate to buy a whole season's worth to figure that out, though.
Now, if only they would release another Showtime show I loved - "It's Garry Shandling's Show". (Michael Tucci was in this as well as Paper Chase and they made a joke about it on how all of a sudden his character was a lawyer - due to his Paper Chase experience.)
I also liked "Brothers" which was on Showtime, too. I'll have to look these two other shows up and see if they are available anywhere.
