I think one big problem on the show is the timespan of events vs. actor's actual aging. Season 1 covered a total of 44 days on the island, but the actors all aged a year (most noticable in the young boy, Walt). If each season is only going to be set over a timespan of a few weeks, as the seasons go on, the aging of the actors will stand out more and more. Exactly! If the producers were smart they would have shot a lot of the "flashback" footage early in the show's run to use for later seasons. Of course, shooting time and money may have made this impossible.

Haven't seen it Yet Is it too late to start? It's never too late with TV shows nowadays because they all get released on DVD! Anyway, the show is starting in a couple minutes so I gotta go...

I got into it late. Mrs. Atari bought the DVD set of season 1 and I got hooked.
It's never too late. And this one's worth it.
I was a little disappointed in tonight's ep. It didn't advance the mythology at all, and the plot was pretty predictable. Most of all though, because it was a Hurley episode, I wanted it to be funnier. Still, it was touching. And it reminded me of one of my favorite books, Babette's Feast. (I'm sure mummi's read it).

Hey, cool MM. My teenage son and I are gettin' a major kick watchin' together, and looking for all the number references. Ah, family time. Best One Yet: The girl sports team in the terminal as Hurley tries to catch his plane in one of the last season-ones.

So did the novel _The Third Policeman_ ever show up in the show? If it has, I haven't noticed it. I wouldn't be surprised, though... Other books that have shown up: Watership Down A Wrinkle In Time The Turn of the Screw And, as I mentioned, the last episode followed the plot of Babette's Feast. With all of the literary allusions, I think you'd really enjoy the show, mummi.

I found one thing out while watching the show last week. I need to tone down my comments about Claire, wifey poo doesn't find them amusing in the least!

I haven't followed a TV program in years, except The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (and MST3K), but I tried this and I'm interested, which surprised me because I find almost all TV programming is total crap

So we're getting 2 weeks of reruns until the next ep (11/9). Damn, that sucks!

And, based on the preview at the end of the last ep, someone will die in the next ep.
Any votes?
I have read that it's a female this time. And a major character.
I can't imagine it'll be Sun now that they've set up the reunion with Jin. And they still have to tell us more about Kate's backstory, so it probably won't be her.
Killing off Claire would be cruel, but manageable. It would up Charlie's characterization and force him to be more responsible. Claire's story arc is pretty much done now that the son has been born. Except that they still have to resolve the whole "amnesia" cop out storyline.
So the odds-on favorite is Shannon. Or one of the "tail section" women. Or my sources are off, and it'll be a guy.

So I still haven't seen an episode, much less the one I posted about the book _The Third Policeman_. I did just read an article about it, and it was in there, but just for a very small, quick shot.
But, and here's a potential spoiler for you: _The Third Policeman_ is about a guy who goes through a tremendously surreal experience and then, at the end of the book, he realizes that he's dead and been "dreaming" all of his experiences.
So: all the people on Lost are obviously dead and dreaming all this. Or at least someone is dreaming it all. And they're dead. Dead, I say.
