Sounds like a great set! I hope SF continues releasing Season 1 eps 'cause I can't wait for Untamed Youth! I know it's not a likely one, but it's my favorite S1. I watched it again last week & it gets better each time! Now, if a set could include UY and Girls' Town--- what a crazy set that'd make, man!

But since they said 16 was lining up to be "pretty big", there are a few titles I'm thinking might be coming up. SF is doing an amazing job, especially by planning titles and sets ahead of time to take advantage of rights. I wonder if by "pretty big", SF means that literally. It would be nice to finally get more than 4 episodes in a set. That always kind of bugged me. With most other shows, they often get a full season released at a time, but MST3K only gets 4 random ones. I realize there are rights issues with some of the films and whatnot, but I would gladly pay a higher price tag for 10 or more episodes per set. I mean, why can't they release all of the "Extremely Likely"/"Likely" titles on Travis' list all on one set and get those out of the way? That way we'd have plenty of episodes to keep us happy while SF negotiated for the harder to get titles. (I'm sure there's an explanation as to why, but I wanna hear it!) :-)

I suspect that by stringing out the easy to release episodes, we'll get more of the tough ones. A lot of the difficult episodes might be so pricey/difficult that sets of nothing but might be too expensive to produce and turn a profit.
Also, we'd have to wait a long time between as there would be 4 difficult negotiations instead of 1. My guess is there would be no more MST3k sets after all the easy ones were released.
And your right about season sets, they won't ever happen due to rights issues. I've found peace by thinking about it more as a series of movies than seasons of a TV show--then a four film boxset seems just right.

Factory has doing a 2:2 mixture of PD movies and licensed movies, most likely for budget reasons. It's a good idea IMO. If they only have to pay for the rights to one or two titles in a set, they can (in theory) afford to go after some of the more expensive titles. That's probably how they're able to put out sets as fast as they are. A 10-episode set wouldn't sell nearly as good as a 4-episode set.

I got to say three great episodes The Girl in Lover’s Lane, Zombie Nightmare and the underrated Racket Girls. The Robot vs. the Aztec Mummy which is my least favorate episode of all times, oh well the rest make up for that one big time.

I bet you 20 dollars that the "Glimpses at KTMA" is ripped directly from the mst3k scrapbook tape. Hey its what they did with the 20 year look back special on the first dvd. Don't be so negative remember Jim Mallon did recently announce that he's interested in releasing more KTMA material either through mst3k.com or DVD special features. Even if it's nothing new I really doubt that Shout Factory would put out the exact same extras on two releases released less than a year apart. Now its official, The Glimpses of KTMA is ripped from the scrapbook tape. Now wheres my 20 Dollars>?

I'm pretty sure they're using masters of some sort.

It's most likely from whatever master tape used to make the Scrapbook VHSs.

Aztec Mummy-IMO the weakest of the group, but, as has been stated numerous times, the worst MST is still better than the best of a lot of sitcoms out there nowadays. Plus it has Commander Cody.
Girl in Lovers Lane-Great season five episode. Joel and the bots are in top form as they tackle this movie. I like the theater segments better than the host segments but it is hard to go wrong with this movie. A great choice by Shout! factory.
Zombie Nightmare- Another solid choice although I don't like it as much as the majority of MSTies. I found the host segments bad, but I believe that that Mike an the bots' riffing in the theater was excellent.
Racket Girls- This is an odd movie about womens' wrestling. I like this episode a lot mainly because of the hilarious short, and the wedding theme of the host segments, I found the riffing to be great in this one and I feel it is a little underrated. True the riffing drops slightly after Are You Ready for Marraige? but i thing the writers and performers did a superb job.
My ratings on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being best.
Aztec Mummy6/10 Girl in Lovers Lane 10/10 Zombie Nightmare 7/10 Racket Girls 10/10
so overall you ave an average score of eight. I believe that this is SF's best release to date.

Sounds neat! I've been wanting to see some of the episode promos on the discs. I've watched a few on Youtube and they're fantastic.
