I would argue that Carrey definatly has the energy and grace to pull Curly off. Films like the Mask and Liar Liar prove this. His physical appearance, however, is the ultimate concern of mine.
After sleeping on it, I've become a bit warmer to these casting choices. Penn has similar facial features to Larry Fine, whether he can pull off the same manorisms has yet to have been proven. But he'll probably make a good middleman. Del Toro can scowl, which is pretty much half of Moe.
I think everything about this movie is going to ride of Carrey's shoulders. If he doesn't work, this movie is going to sink faster than the Titanic. If he does, it could soar. Within the past few days I've become less concerned about these three than I have the Farrelly brothers. I've enjoyed a couple of their movies, but not all. However, I hope they keep their potty humor to themselves. That is not Stooge humor.

Yeah, I don't know about this. I just don't see this cast as the Stooges. Maybe (hopefully) they will surprise us.

I'm more bothered by the fact that the Farrelly Bros. are doing the movie than the casting. Don't get me wrong, I've found their movies funny before, but with something as beloved as the Stooges I don't want to see it turn into two hours of filthy sex jokes.

Having Sirius, I just heard some interviews on Howard 101, by a young talk show host who's name escapes me now (he was only 16) who had the urge and follow-thru to contact and interview Moe and Larry during their final years. Good stuff. But the guy that did Stimpy's voice (of Ren & Stimpy) could do a great Larry Fine impression vocally. Howard's "Larry Fine at Woodstock" bit is proof.

The name of the guy that did Stimpy's voice is Billy West. He also used that voice for Larry Mouse in an episode of Pinky and the Brain that was a tribute to The Three Stooges. He used the voice again for one of The Joker's henchmen in a couple Batman episodes. (Another Stooges reference). He's done a lot of voices over the years, but these days he's doing the voice of several prominent characters on Futurama, including Philip J. Fry.

That's the guy...
(Billy, as Larry Fine at Woodstock)
"Hey Jimmy! Who's the guy with the needle in his arm?
(a gravelly-voice impersonator, as Jimmy Hendricks)
"That's my friend. We're experimenting with drugs to-ge-tha..."
(Billy)
"Don't eat the brown acid!"

I kind of let this projec fly under my radar for a while after everything fell apart. After all, it's been how long since the Farrelly brothers have made a movie that was actually funny? Then they hired a no name for Moe, and two guys from two of my most disliked television shows of all time (MadTV and Will & Grace) for Curly and Larry. I was kind of releaved the didn't go for big name talent in a prject like this, but I was still hoping they'd go for talent. Anyway, first image of the new Three Stooges finally revealed Sean Heyes looks awful, but the other two look decent. I'm hoping for the best but expecting the worst. The last thing we need is another Laurel and Hardy: For Love or Mummy.
