Every year my Civil War unit does a memorial service for our veterans in Wheaton IL at Memorial Park. I always go because its important to remember our vets. Right now my brother-in-law is in Afganistan, and a friend of mine is going there soon. Please take the time to at think think about our veterans, or if you know one, thank them for all that they do for us.

i personally don't know anyone overseas, but it's impossible not to think of them, especially today. i always send my dad a card, for he was in the navy a long time ago. in our very small town we have three different war memorials, all within a couple of blocks of each other. they had a big ceremony at one of them today, and we broadcasted it on the station. it was cold and rainy today, but the place was packed.

And after that...
My son's late father, Evan, died in Afghanistan. My cousin, Shane, is a Veteran of the conflicts in both Afghanistan and Iraq. The closest homie I ever had in the Army, 'Killer Bob' Hall, is an Iraq Vet The list goes on, the many I have served with, and the few that I could call friends... Damon, Marshall, Alex, and Jimbo... the Marines I used to hang out and cause hell with. SGT Cortes, who had seen so much chit in combat, it's a miracle he's as soft spoken as he is. My homie from my first unit, Patterson, who became an amputee in September of 2006 when an IED hit his truck...
There are so many I know... Everybody who has ever raised their right hand to defend the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, should be honored.
And that's all I have to say about that.
