Hey phantom, I was wondering if you saw the episode where they get a feed from the CBC and basically mock Canadian television. Lots of in-jokes, just wondering if you got the gag. That one's got cult status up here.

That one's got cult status up here. Oh yes, I don't think I missed any of them. I just watched Incredible Melting Man and they made some joke about the Russians and said "hey Yorgi" Remember that from the CCCP episode when the Russians took over the SCTV signal? I don't recall Joel making SCTV references but Mike did here and there.

The CCCP episode, another classic.....what fits into Mother Russia....LOL.
I agree, I think Mike must have been more of a fan than the rest.
I was thinking of the goofy eastern European flicks MST did, they've always been faves of mine. Did you ever see Peppi Longsocks on SCTV? They actually did a few send-ups of foreign films, always with hilarious results.

Now we can discuss SCTV exclusivly. The Peppi Longsocks thing was brillaint. Damn I want to see those again! So ArtCrow how popular was SCTV in Canada in it's prime? Here it had a strong following but it was still kind of a cult show. Sounds like another show I like.

Well it was pretty popular with the mid-teen to 30 crowd for awhile, maybe bigger than in the States but still more or less a devoted cult following. It's still run daily on the Comedy Network but there's a limited number of episodes they keep recycling. There's some copyright issues or music rights issues with some eps so they don't get shown, I don't know why. Guess that's why it's taken so long for the DVDs to come out. But the NBC seasons are coming out supposedly in April, Flaherty said there's a tribute to Candy extra. Will be great to see the full 90 minute shows instead of the butchered 1/2 hour syndication eps.

How about Days of the Week, now those were hilarious. Rocco, Mojo, the whole gang.

I'd love to see those all in succession. Mojo, now she was a piece of work. But how about that Ed Grimley? That character was one of my favorites.

My favorite piece of Mojo dialogue:
Mrs MacKay, when your son Billy comes back will you like him more than me?
Well Mojo he is my son.
Am I your son?
Ed Grimley, yeah he was pretty funny, I also liked Marty's Jerry Lewis. Ever see the commercial parody of Lewis singing Dylan?

Another thing I like was how they combined different things for their parodies. Like when they did Mayberry instead os Andy Griffith the put in Merv Griffin. Damn that was funny! We''ll be right back.
