I posted on this movie in the obscure movies thread. Here's the recap of my summary: "Unfortunately it vanished from Crackle quite recently, but I was lucky enough to catch The 5000 Fingers of Dr. T there. It's a 1953 musical, the only movie ever actually written by Dr. Suess. It tells the story of a young boy's battle to save the world from domination by his piano teacher (played by Hans Conried). It really does capture Suess's visual style, and I'll post some screen grabs in another thread. One interesting feature is that it has many similarities to Brazil, such as the boy's only ally being a plumber. I keep meaning to check around and see if Gilliam was consciously referencing it. One highlight scene is the dungeon in which all players of instruments other than the piano are imprisoned. That alone makes the movie worth checking out." One of my favorite interchanges: "But you've gotta help me! You're my only hope!" "Then you better give up hope, Kid."
