I love that pic! Pelicans are my favorite pterodactyl stand-ins. Especially when they're soaring along, then turn and plummet headfirst at the water, it looks like they're going to break their necks. To me they're sort of the Goofy of the bird world.

Man, where do you come up with these!?
You know what freaks me out about some owls? It looks like they have a separate, tiny bird living in the center of their face.

Holy cow, what a picture. It looks like a little inter-species mating has been going on. Owls, you're supposed to eat the mouse...

There is such a nerdy kind of excitement in getting a new bird at my feeders. I saw a Yellow-rumped Warbler years ago, but I've never had one at my feeders until today. It was actually a male and a female, and it was apparently the running water of the fountain that attracted them. My fountain is way back on my patio, but the male came back and drank and even bathed in the top bowl. I was peering through the blinds, only about 5 feet from him. Here's what the male looks like. The gold of warblers really is that bright. Warble!

Moved the Evening Grosbeak from the "birds spotted anywhere else" column to the "birds spotted at my feeders" column. Totally different experience seeing them right outside your door eating from your feeders. Phone on zoom pics: Real pic:

I've got a pair of Tufted Titmice making a ruckus outside. Who, me?!? They may not like that a cute little black snake has moved into the wood near the birdbath. Oh, dear.

^what a cutie! i never paid much attention to the birds around my neighborhood because all the ones i see are just boring looking ones with no color. i was looking around, however, and found this - the crowned southern pigeon. what do you think of that, huh? fancy.
