Last year there was a call for papers from a gentleman who wanted to put together a book of essays on MST3K. I signed up, seeing as I had so much experience writing papers in school and I wanted to use my English major abilities for fun. I finally wrote this back in January so I'd make the submission deadline, but I never heard from the editor again. I'm not sure this would have passed peer editing, much less make it to publishing, but I'm still proud of it, and so I share it with you, who I hope will enjoy it. Taking the plot concept too seriously has never been more fun and frustrating (surprise - there are not a lot of good sources to be had in the subject of bad movies). So I give you this: the magnum opus of my post-college essay writing career. You should be able to read it (and, dare I say, download it) with no problem, but I'm new to DocStoc, so I may have done something wrong.

So, I find I'm not the only one to watch MST3K alone. I don't have a bear, although Bugs Bunny is staring at me right now. Very nicely done. I really enjoyed that, Princess Robyn. You learned the one thing us long-timer's learned long ago. Don't watch too many episodes at once, you'll burn out. I keep my MST3K viewing to just 2 a week, and sometimes I'll go weeks without watching an episode. Always remember, Sandy Frank had nothing to do with the making those movies. He's just the distributor who pays for the rights to present other countries films and TV shows, in this case Japan, to the American public. Of course, he can be blamed for butchering these films through re-editing. Damn you, Sandy Frank! "I prefer to blame...congress."

Do you still have the CFP, Kyrie? I'd be interested in who this was and where/how/if he planned to publish it.

I saw it on Satellite News ( www.mst3kinfo.com/?p=2608), and someone in the comments linked to the original solicitation ( jodi.livejournal.com/2009/04/02/). Thank you, afriendlychicken, for the kind words. Although Sandy Frank may have only redistributed these movies, he's still responsible for bringing them here and inflicting them upon us poor, unsuspecting English speakers. Therefore he is still responsible to a degree, and I'll continue to label him the source of all our pain. ;D
