Basil versus Ratigan - The Great Mouse Detective The scene begins with the impressive three-dimensional view of the inside of Big Ben, where Basil rescues Olivia from Ratigan's treachery. The foe, being pushed to the edge by another defeat at the hands of Basil, breaks down and shows his true colors as a berserk, razor-clawed rat who beats Basil within an inch of his life. However, it's Basil who has the last laugh when the hour sounds and the vibrations of the bells send Ratigan to his death.
Ernest versus Nash - Ernest Goes To Jail Okay, it probably doesn't belong in a list of great battles. However, you at least have to admire to a degree the editing that was employed to make it look like Jim Varney's Ernest was fighting his felonious doppelgänger. And, it ends with Ernest getting blown up.
Light Cycle Duel - Tron Some years ago, I tried mapping out the Light Cycle sequence on paper. I came to the conclusion that there is no way the Light Cycles could have made the walls that were seen in this scene, nor would Ram and Tron have been able to escape with Flynn through the hole in the wall. Nevertheless, this scene is still the grand highlight of the film, creating a feasible game that would be featured in arcade games and fan games to follow.

The Chronicles of Riddick- Riddick vs. The Lord Marshall.
Runner up. The 2 part Star Trek Deep Space Nine episode: The Way of the Warrior. This is the ep where Worf joins the crew of DS9. This battle has it all. A cool space battle attack on the station and great hand to hand combat going on inside the station at the same time.

H.I. McDunnough Vs. Bounty Hunter Leonard Smalls- Raising ArizonaAs funny as it is visceral, Smalls exploding and his flaming boot hitting the hot Airzona pavement is one of my first home video memories. I was born in Phoenix, and my baby sister was very close to playing one of the Arizona quince (not to mention I am a huge Coen Bros fan). So this one is close to my heart. The Punisher Vs. The Mafia/Yakuza- The Punisher (1989)I have posted my love for this movie before. Anyone of the action set pieces in this flick is worthy of mention. You’ve got a bloodbath at the harbor, an illegal casino blown to pieces, and a raid on Yakuza headquarters. Deaths by gun, blade, crossbow, broken necks, and explosions, this movie leaves 60 dead bodies in its wake. Add to that gritty production values, decent acting, and a thrilling score, this is much better than believed. Parker and Longbaugh Vs. Joe Sarno and the Bagman Geezer Gang- Way of the GunThis doomed firefight is packed with realism and heaps of bodies n’ bullets. The IMDB trivia speaks for itself: - Christopher McQuarrie's brother, a US Navy SEAL, was technical advisor for the gunfight scenes, hence the realism of the coordinated movements, use of cover, and room-clearing tactics used by Parker and Longbaugh.
- The main characters meticulously adhere to "trigger discipline" when handling their weapons: the only time their fingers are actually on the trigger is when they are willing to shoot somebody.
- Unlike many movies with action-packed gunfights, every round fired is accounted for and all characters reload when appropriate, with the exception of one sequence in the brothel courtyard where Parker and Longbaugh fire dozens of rounds in rapid succession without pausing to reload: an intentional sort of fun tribute to classic action movies.
Jack Burton, Wang Chi, Egg Shen and The Chang Sings Vs. David Lo Pan, The Three Storms, and The Wing Kong- Big Trouble in Little ChinaThis one has everything: Kurt Russell, swordplay, running up walls, a showdown of eternal good vs. evil, and a six demon bag. Much like Carpenter’s Escape From New York, this movie has inspired video game designers and tons of other movies. A perfect example of this underrated auteur. Rick Deckard Vs. Roy Batty- Blade RunnerThis is probably my all time favorite. Deckard is stalked, beaten, intimidated, and ultimately saved by the unstoppable replicant Batty. Deckard’s desperate rooftop climb and jump from one building to another is juxtaposed against Batty’s superior strength and hauntingly playful attitude. This futuristic game of cat and mouse masks some heavy concepts, such as the nature of humanity, slavery, an life itself.
