I prefer the sequel. Seems like they had a bigger budget and the story moves along at a quicker pace. I also think the riffing in the sequel is better.

Agree on both points. Plus, the sequel on the show has the Mr. B. short, which automatically makes it a better episode.

I prefer the sequel as well! Why? Because it's in color! Well for about 20 seconds anyhow..

I prefer the sequel because the special effects team just can't seem to get the size of the beast right. One minute he is Godzilla sized (probably 200 feet tall or more) and his foot is big enough to squash a truck, then in subsequent scenes the people come up to his thigh and he is probably no more than 20 feet tall. No continuity at all in that regard.
All in all the special effects didn't seem any better to me than the first movie and in the above regard they were much worse. But that's why I like it better. My twin sons and I were able to riff right along with the crew.

It is so weird, I had an out-of-nowhere jones to watch this just last night!
I enjoy the sequel for its rewriting of history. Manning had no family in the first movie, but Sister Joyce is there, devoted and bland, for the second. They remembered that the shot of sulpha whateverthehell would stop his growth (that's why he hasn't gotten bigger) but now it won't decrease his size, even though it would have in the last one.
I also like the blend of realism--how nobody wants to be saddled with this sarong-clad white elephant, the mayor rightly insisting that the middle of a major city is no place for a destructive force sixty feet tall--and craziness. Glen escaped! And although he's a GIANT and glows in the dark, and leaves a swath of destruction behind him, he's impossible to spot!

Funny, years ago, I got hell for preferring War over Amazing.
I like both eps but War is funnier to me. Movie-wise I have much affection for Amazing. It and Gams vs Gaos were childhood favorites. They bring back fond memories. Though they come off cheap and cheesy today, when I was a lad they filled me with awe and wonder.

I'm a fan of "Man". Just too many classic lines. Beast is great, too, but I still prefer the first.

Get your fresh bread!
Yeah I love Amazing, but with the inclusion of Mr. B, you got to give it to War. Actually, they work best as a pair, like the Master Ninjas. Back-to-back viewings makes Mike's Glen bits all the more funnier.

Also, if I'm remembering correctly, the only actor who was in both (Russ Bender) played the only character in the original to buy the farm.

Gotta go with the first one. I just watched these back to back recently, and found myself falling asleep in "War". I like them both, and Mr. B Natural gives points to the sequel. But the office argument scene in the first one is still my favorite part of either episode. Such great riffing and reactions from Joel & the 'bots. Joel's impersonation of the grumpy & skeptical investigator is hilarious.
Plus this: "When 60 or 70 percent of a person's body is burned..." "It's icky."
And here it is (starting about 45 seconds in until about 3:40):

Isn't there a third "Colossal Man" film? The Cyclops?
I always liked the original. A sequel, to me, is "been there, done that."

I haven't seen them for a while but I remember liking the first one better. It would make a nice double feature.

Isn't there a third "Colossal Man" film? The Cyclops? Cyclops features a giant man with one eye, but it's not Glen Manning, so I guess it's not really a sequel. But it is from Mr. B.I.G., and it has Gloria Talbott! As for the two Colossal films, I like the first one better as a film but the second one better as an episode. Go figure. "Here, let me. WHAT DID YOU DO WITH HIS TRUCK?!?"
