Also, I'm also another person who needs to have milk around all the time - it's got protein & calcium to keep you going & your teeth from turning into a crumbling/pit-filled mess, plus how can you eat Nutter Butters without it?

funny you should mention. You know my lifestyle. I live full time in an RV, totally off the grid. This was a bizarrely hot long summer out west, and I was trying to stay up on the hill to avoid the worst heat in the valleys (which is also where the supplies are), but slowly I ran out of good food, then all food, then propane (which runs my fridge, but I realized it didn't matter as all I had to refrigerate was half a bottle of soy sauce, which I couldn't figure out how to turn into a whole meal, though I managed to turn a tiny can of tomato sauce into one, diluting it with water to make "soup")
I have a fishing pole and gear, but I wasn't near a lake or stream. I'm no hunter, either, though I do have instructions in a survival book on making a bow and arrows, I think I'd starve before I got any good at it.
But when I ran out of drinking water and had to resort to drinking possibly contaminated wash water out of my tank that I don't bleach nearly often enough, that's when I finally had to come down the hill. I did, however, stretch two food days and a few staple cans over ten days first, eating maybe 6oo calories per day. Man, at that point, ANYTHING would have tasted good. I even ate a stale granola bar someone had given me, and I truly hate those.
But to think as the more typically spoiled american I am at heart, I do like my Coke. Second on my list is chicken. Flour is darned useful, as I can turn it into all of breakfast and half of lunch and half of dinner. I mean, it can become bread, muffins, rolls, pizza, a calzone, pasta if I have an egg, a fruit pie if I have a can of peaches, though a bit of sugar, rising agent, and salt helps all that along. I could live on Coke and chicken and flour and any can or bag of frozen veggie a week and not complain. If I had a few pounds of potatoes and a can of fruit and some Fire Ranchers (my fave dessert), I'd be giddy. Indeed, I think I just gave you my shopping list for the week.
Oh, and I gotta have a book. I can fast two days if I have a good book and some water. And I'd hate to lose the MST discs. I don't think I've gone 48 hours without one since 2001.
But I'm weird, I know.
