Mrs. Atari and I got the first season for Christmas, and we're already through the three 90-minute episodes. Wonderful performances and directing. Easily the best show I've stumbled upon in years.
I'm kind of bummed that they only made 3 episodes, but if you look at them as a trilogy of films, it's totally worth the price. Martin Freeman is exceptional as Dr. Watson. I can't wait to see him as Bilbo.
Has anyone else seen the show?

I love the show. Can't wait for the next season.
I'm of mixed feelings about the choice of 3 movie-length episode seasons, though. On one hand I think it worked wonderfully for the first year. On the other: what a long wait between shows!

I saw the pilot. Thought it was a good update and enjoyed the performances. Only wish the actual plot had been a bit stronger.
Still, very good.

I was expecting to love it and wasn't disappointed. Great acting, looked awesome. In general a good update.
As an aside, is Benedict Cumberbatch not one of the most awesome names ever?

Just a heads up for those that are interested, the first episode (there are only 3 of them) in the new series is being shown in Britain this evening.

I'm normally not a torrent/pirate fan, but this would be an exception.
I have already sent obscene tweets to Mark Gatiss over this.

I watched it last night and loved that the style and tone was the same as series 1. It's a shame they don't make more than 3 a year, but it's so dense and stylized, maybe if they made more, the quality would suffer. Mrs. Atari said it's like getting a great trilogy of full-length movies once a year. I loved the humor in this one. "I hear 'Punch me in the face' every time you're speaking, but usually it's subtext." And I really like the way Gatiss writes and portrays Mycroft. I kept expecting a reveal that Adler's phone contained stuff about him. My one complaint is that Sherlock is becoming way too much of an action hero. The way he disarmed the CIA operative with the aerosol can and a head butt was clever and made some sense. But infiltrating a Pakistani terrorist cell to pose as the executioner and turning the sword on the bad guys? No way. That was a dumb twist.

So now I've watched all 3 of Series 2, and I REALLY need to talk to someone about how the last one ended.
Please tell me someone here has seen it. Anyone?

Yep, I've seen all 3 of them. They've been a few theories going around over here as to what happened (excuse the clumsy wording, I'm trying not to give anything away) but I think there's only one theory that actually works and even that has a couple of gaping holes.

Does the theory involve The laundry truck? Moffitt said the answer is obvious somewhere in the episode. Obviously, Molly is in on the fakery. But I wonder about the hanging dummy at the beginning of the episode. Is there some clue in that seemingly throwaway conversation? And what about the rubber ball? I know some have speculated that old magicians used one pressed in the armpit to simulate a lack of pulse.

Point 1; Yes. Basically, SH used it to break his fall. Point 2 The theory that's doing the rounds here is that Sherlock, in a conversation with Molly, said that he would need her help. The medical team that rushed out of the hospital to attend to SH were in on the act and they kept Watson as far away from the 'body' as possible. Later, Molly fixed the Post Mortem report and signed the death certificate. My problem with the overall scenario is that the waste lorry would have to have been passing at the time (unless it was in on the act as well) and that to pull the trick off, Watson would have had to be kept at arms length or incapacitated in some way. The incapacitation was the cyclist colliding with him, but that results of the collision could have ranged from Watson being knocked out to him not even being knocked over. Too much of a random chance.
