I personally would like to slap the person who came up with auto tune in the first place. Yes, it can be entertaining (like Autotune the News) but it doesn't count as music. Rebecca Black is the proof to back it up. i felt the same way but PhantomEngineer makes a good case for it, properly used. Rebecca Black and Kim Kardashian's use of it is like guitar players who slather their tone in so much heavy-metal distortion that there's no character left to their sound. the other thing that bugs me about becky black's (oh, and by the way, if you could shorten your first name to "becky" and have that awesome alliterative moniker, why the hell wouldn't you? ) use of the autotuning is that she's literally singing the same one note 90% of the time anyway. really? even if you can't technically sing, you couldn't just learn how to sing that one mid-rangey note and drive it into the ground? you had to have help from an autotuner for that?

Opie and Anthony did a bit on this song today. Including playing her "unplugged" version. Ouch!

This is final proof. I've always believed that the internet could turn "popularity" and "success" into words that mean: "ironic ridicule."
We need to update the dictionary.

I never watched American Idol, but I remember an interview with Simon Cowell where he talked about William Hung. Apparently Hung didn't really understand that literally everyone was laughing at him, and he was just a sideshow act. This is just one more example of that phenomenon.
However, out of that, we got Mock Trial with Judge Reinhold and his Hung Jury, so I can't complain.

You've made it this far through the Rebecca Black thread? Congratulations! To reward your dedication and remind you that no viewing of horrible material is ever unrewarded (MST rewards us with jokes, after all), here's some quality music as a refresher from when the Rock that teens preferred to listen to had a decent chance at maybe, possibly, hopefully being good every once in a while. There. Feeling refreshed? Good. Now, back to discussing Rebecca Black (you're right that "Becky Black" would be the better choice for cool rock star name.) The thread's halfway done, you can make it the rest of the way!
